<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has a hyperextended left knee and a bone bruise sustained during a game-winning field goal drive at the end of a 24-22 victory over San Diego on Monday night, but hasn't been ruled out of Sunday's game against Jacksonville. The injury isn't as severe as it initially appeared to be -- immediately after the game, coach Bill Cowher said ``it looked bad.''``It's a deep sigh of relief,'' Cowher said Tuesday.ADVERTISEMENTRoethlisberger, 16-1 as an NFL regular-season starter, was injured with 1:05 remaining when Chargers defensive end Luis Castillo's helmet collided with his left knee as Roethlisberger was completing a 9-yard pass to Antwaan Randle El.Roethlisberger lay in pain on the turf for several minutes, clutching at his knee, before limping off the field. He was removed from the field on a cart, his knee heavily wrapped, after Jeff Reed kicked a 40-yard field goal with six seconds remaining, but he had no bandage on the knee when he got dressed shortly after that.Roethlisberger had an MRI test shortly after the team returned to Pittsburgh on Tuesday morning.Roethlisberger was the NFL's offensive rookie of the year last season after going 13-0 on a team that went a franchise-record 15-1 before ultimately losing to New England 41-27 in the AFC championship game. He was off to an excellent start this season, completing 52 of 86 passes for 913 yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions. His quarterback rating of 123.8 is the best in the league.Backup Tommy Maddox sat out the San Diego game with a calf injury, but also could be available Sunday. Cowher said his injury also wasn't as bad as initially thought. If neither Roethlisberger nor Maddox can play, the Steelers would turn to 30-year-old Charlie Batch, the Lions' starter from 1998 until late in the 2001 season who has played little since signing with his hometown Steelers before the 2002 season.Batch has thrown only eight passes, completing four, in four seasons with the Steelers. He didn't throw a pass in the 2002 season, then missed all of last season with a knee injury that occurred during training camp. The Steelers considered cutting Batch before the season started, but decided to keep three veteran quarterbacks -- something few NFL teams do -- after he threw two touchdown passes in leading a comeback victory at Carolina in the team's final exhibition game Sept. 1.``The news on Ben is very good, but it's good that we have Tommy Maddox and Charlie Batch,'' Cowher said. ``As of now, Charlie is the starter by default.''</div>I hope he is okay because I was really worried about how serious this injury was. I'm just glad it wasn't any worse than it could've been. I bet Big Ben try to warm up this week in practice so he can play. He isn't scared of nothin' and he can play while he is injured. I hope he come 100% later in the week or the week after at least.

Yeah, it's nothing serious. Cowher says he should be good to go on Sunday against the Jags.

It looked like a Season-ending injury, I was real worried about that, w/ the replay they showed it looked really serious and his reaction on the ground and how slowly he walked off the feild made me think it was REAL bad, I'm really glad to hear this. I think that they should not have him play vs the Jags, it's too risky, why make it worse? let him rest up a little, they can win it w/o him

He went down very hard on that knee. And I don't think they can win this game without him. Jaguars are a very underrated team. They're balanced very well.

Plus, our defense is really good, we will put a lot of pressure on Leftwich to make it very difficult. Then, again, we can run the ball very well. Should be a tough game but we'll get through it.

He would be rusty and it wouldn't be good for him having to play the 6th ranked defense in the league (2nd in passing I might add) in his first start back.

He just came back after a really bad injury so he should be fine. Plus, Cowher didn't even stated that he'd be starting so we arn't in trouble. I believe Big Ben will start because he love the game, so he should be ready to go. And how could you know how Charlie Batch will be rusty? If you woulda watched preseason, you would know but i guess you don't. I mean, come on, i know your team isn't the pittsburgh steelers so you wouldn't know like I don't know much about your team. If Batch does start, he'll not just be in a hurry, we'll just make him relax then everything is good.

Batch: 5/9 89 yards 0 TD in Game 1, 6/11 55 yards 0 TD in Game 2, DNP for game 3, and in Game 4 16/29 182 yards 1 TD 1 INT. Not so stellar numbers especially when you're playing against backup defenses and don't tell me that last game was a good performance b/c it wasn't.

Who cares about stats. It isn't about stats, it is about helping out your team. He coulda still done same thing in the first place anyway. Plus, he played in the 2nd Quarter in one game when there wern't facing a back-up Defense. And for that last game, that isn't the best, not the worse, but it's ok. Bad would be if he threw like 3 INTS but he didn't. Honestly, i know you got it from a website so you still wouldnt know because you didn't see him play on TV. But, honestly man, he isn't a horrible Quarterback. If you're going to judge players, you cant say anything unless you see him play but the last time people probably seen him played was a few years ago with the Detroit Lions. Plus, he didn't really have good wide receivers to throw to. He does now with Pittsburgh. So you gotta admit that. And if anybody think a quarterback is horrible? you shouldnt be in the NFL [IMG]

It doesn't matter if i got it from a website or not, I still saw the games and he didn't impress me at all. I get the NFL package so i did see the games buddy. First of all, it doesn't matter if u have bad wideouts on a team. That's what proves if you're a good QB. If you can only work with good guys than your not doing anything its the receivers doing all the work. This doesn't matter anyway because Roethlisberger is starting on Sunday.

They said the injury isn't as serious as it looked. If Roethlisberger is a tough kid than he should be able to go on Sunday.
