Weather was even worse yesterday...we had 2 tornados touch down in Cordele, which is about 8 miles from us as the crow flies....lot of wind and 3 inches of rain.

Considering some of the inane contracts already given out to players with lesser talent, how much could Judge be asking for? ...Goddamnit...just pay the man !

It's been said everyone is replaceable, but I totally disagree with that. Judge is irreplaceable, the Yanks would be just another dead fish without him! I doubt Judge would take less to stay in New York, if another team throws a lot of cash at him. I would not blame him, and there's never been enough Robin Yount's in baseball, or players who would take less to continue, and retire with their original team. MLB is reinventing the wheel, with some really dumb rule changes. Starting Extra innings with a runner on second is one of them. MLB is becoming a little league for grown-ups. I believe getting rid of the shift would be a dumb move, just as dumb as installing it in the first place. Sometimes things change, and once they are adapted to, it's just as dumb to change them back. Either way, it was dumb for MLB players to not work on their hitting enabling them to hit to the opposite field at will. Seems like the art of bunting went South a long time ago with quite a few players. Perhaps the lack of players capable of bunting has grown to be more than >50% of players. Here's a podcast in which Theo Epstein, now a MLB consultant is talking about, creating a rule which will not allow for outfielders to play at certain depths. It's not only Little League it's more like T-ball. Actually I like the difference between the NL and the AL being the DH. I'd rather see completely opposite games in both leagues, then one League Play by the others rules. I appreciated it, the lack of a DH in the NL, as much as I liked it in the AL only. I liked the two opposite strategies especially going into the World Series. I would say the NL had the edge when it came down to the Manager's having to strategize more, i.e., small ball, Hit and run, stealing bases like stealing candy out of a baby's mouth. Then again the NL was getting stale and flat. Especially when the game was on the line and a light hitting if capable of hitting it all, Pitcher came up to bat with runners on base, two outs and the game on the line. Just like the lack of hitters incapable of hitting to the opposite field, or unable to bunt, Pitchers that couldn't hit fell into the same boat. Hitters seem to forget how to hit as well as Pitchers being unable to hit, somewhere between high school and minor leagues. When I was a kid in high school, often Pitchers were the best hitters, and every player could bunt, and/or hit to the opposite field, it was a mandate to play at that level, a level much lower than MLB, yet the fundamentals were always practiced and routine. This shit keeps up, I'll become a full-time Hockey fan. Then there is the cost of attending a MLB game. Totally out of my price range. Especially when I have to pay six bucks for a gallon of gas to drive an hour and a half to an MLB park. Plus our local Minor League A+ team was one of the 40 plus teams cut by MLB. 25 bucks to sit behind the plate for two tickets, no parking cost, with excellent and cheap hot dogs and beer or soda.
