    Hope your party went well!

Never said she "needed" anyone to defend her. PM me if you'd like.

No worries. It's just a trend I've been noticing of the right and it seems to be getting worse...

No, I'm as much of a liberal as you are a real conservative. I'm fiscally conservative, which used to be what the standard was for being conservative. But even that term has become tainted and misused.

I grew up in a household with loving parents, my father conservative, my mother liberal. It was and still is a perfect balance for my family. My mother had dreams of college educations for her, my father, and myself, and my father found the way to fiscally make those dreams happen for us. It's okay to listen to dreams and strive for more. But it's also important to listen to what it will take to make those dreams a reality.

Right now, IMO, the conservative side of American has become the party of hate and forced morality. Look at the issues that you are most involved within the forum, forced morality.

Protecting the environment used to be important to conservatives. Conservation.... conservative... I bet these two words are related.

Conservatives used to believe in laws and regulations. Now we're being told that regulations like clean water is a burden to business.

And if believing in these things while rejecting the continued hate on certain groups of people makes me liberal according to your narrow standards then fine, color me liberal.

My mom used to refer to herself as an Eisenhower Republican.

But that party has abandoned people like my mom.

It's now more about Jesus, controlling others and honestly, fear mongering of the "others".

There's that hate word yet again. I'm a strong conservative, but hate is not part of my vocabulary.

As to forced morality (as you've described it), my beliefs are what they are. If someone wants to attack and debate the issues, fine. I only ask that I'm not the one attacked, as it were. You're a mod, head mod, owner, whatever. It's your job to keep things objective and considerate.

When someone says that I not only am not entitled to equal rights, but my mere existence is so evil children will be irreparably harmed if they hear the word, I sure don't call that love.

(not responding to your post, @crandc using it as a reference).

It's funny when someone blindly supports someone who promotes division, support passive (and not so passive) aggressive ways to criminalize being gay/ gay marriage, says they're "dealing" with a "transgender issue" etc., gets called out for it, they're like "why are people attacking poor widdo innocent me? I support gays/etc!"

Well, here's an interesting thing. I support LGBTQ rights. I support gay rights, gay marriage, etc. I have 3 cousins who are lesbians, and never once have I been so god damn arrogant and oblivious to think that it is ME who is 'dealing with transgender issues'. I love my cousins no matter who they sleep with (in fact, I don't want to know anything about who any of my cousins/relatives sleep with, but that's a different point).

I'm not dealing with an "issue" that one of my cousins (and her wife) had a child a few years ago, and are raising him. The idea that there are people in the country that are so afraid and insecure about themselves that they thought they should do something about gay couples adopting, or getting married, or the thought crossed their minds that they should be concerned about the T and Q part of LGBTQ, is just mind numbing.

Like literally, dealing with the people who think this way is mind numbing. Fuck each and every one of them for being such huge fucking hypocrites (if you dare judge them based on their sexual preference or how they identify, they'd go apoplectic).

Why can't we just live in a world where people are fine with people who are gay, straight, bi, transgender or whatever. And stop making and supporting laws that are anti-lgbtq.

Either we're all equal or we're not. (and spare me the "what about someone who wants to marry children/dogs/murder" crap. Please be an adult about this)

No, I just no longer feel the need to ignore people who support politicians who wish to subjugate women, POC, and LGBTQ.

Regardless of if hate is in your vocabulary or not, if you support and promote people and policies which promote or defend hate, you are supporting and promoting hate.

Choosing to ignore the word doesn't make that support any less hateful or harmful.

What is wrong with being angry? I am angry about Ukraine. I am angry about young Black people killed by cops. I am angry about attacks on women's rights. I am angry about hatred directed against my community.

I wonder if the difference (to them) is that they are A: allowed to get angry (due to being in the majority/in power) and B: they don't get angry, they just pass laws

Anger seems like a logical response to hate and oppression...

    Doesn't it?

Apparently the correct reaction to hate and oppression is supposed to be "aww shucks/folksy charm".
