Unless I linked the wrong article, he stated that Philly should have gone for a CJ-for-Simmons deal. That flies in the face of the narrative that only a mindless Blazer homer would think CJ had any value. Just to be clear - I agree with trading CJ, but I do not agree there was no choice but to trade him for roasted goat crap. Nor do I agree with the media people who are trying to spin the deal to make Olshey look good. I am disgusted with bozos like Dwight who condemn the deal because Cronin made it, and would defend it if Olshey had made it. Rant over. Just pretend I am not here.
Please explain why. He had to clear cap space, get beneath the tax threshold, and move the team into a position where it may be able to draft a top talent in this years draft. Seems like check, check, check. We haven't seen what he can do in Free Agency, or the Draft yet. So it's quite premature to say ,"He has to go".
If we win the lottery it’s gonna be so funny to read how fast optimism replaces depression in this thread.
I respectfully disagree. You promote an internal candidate to the interim position on the assumption they can hit the ground running. If he needs time - then why not just launch an immediate search for an outside candidate? Personally, I wouldn't give the job to an Olshey enabler/yes man/mini-me under any circumstances - but I'm cranky that way.
I feel Cronin did hit the ground running. And, " The hairdo" was his boss. Doesn't mean he agreed with everything he did.
Not premature at all. He made two trades where we gave up the best talent. One was a gamble that didn't work out. Giving up CJ and Nance for Hart and a 1st in 2025 is hilariously bad. We aren't going to be contenders next year. Cronin sucks.
Hey, like a lot of people, i didn't know how bad Dame's injury was. Shows how special he truly is, when he can have a great series vs. Denver despite having to manage the pain.
I just know being a Negative Nancy or Debbie Downer doesn't do the heart good. That's why i've had to stop watching the news on a regular basis.
Even if Dame wasn't hurt that team had zero chance of competing. Get real. It is called being realistic with the current state of the team. I want to see Dame actually have a chance at playing for something. That won't be with us.
Apparently you haven’t been a Blazer fan long… no one wants to come to Portland. We aren’t a free agency destination
Did some of you forget why Neil Olshey was fired? Wasn’t there an investigation into his way of running the team? How many times do you think Joe had ideas that were stepped on? How many deals could have happened in the last two years that were no longer available 4 months ago? How many teams simply would not deal with the Blazers due to the situation they were in?
