A Michigan kindergartner brought a bottle of ready made Jose Cuervo margaritas to class in their backpack and served it to other students in dixie cups during snack time.

The student who brought it, knew it was alcoholic. The other students though it was juice. When told it was alcohol by the student who brought it, one student brought their dixie cup to the teacher and told them there was alcohol in it. One student felt wobbly and dizzy after 4 or 5 sips.

Parents are understandably upset. Not sure how this was able to get past a teacher. How kindergarteners were able to pour liquor in dixie cups in a classroom without being seen. Someone is in trouble.

The school faculty immediately called poison control when they found out.

The school had this to say: "While we try to keep an eye on everything our students bring to school, that's simply not possible. It's unfortunate that these types of adult beverages can be easily mistaken for child-friendly drinks."

The school hit it on the head. It is not the fault of the school. This is entirely on that kid’s parents. Too many parents are too damn quick to abdicate their parental responsibilities and blame it on the schools instead. The state of Florida is a prime example. No one wants to hold themselves personally accountable. It’s always someone else’s fault. Which is just another plank in the Republican agenda…….

I went to school with kids, that if it was 2022 instead of the 1980's, would've done exactly this. And probably worse.

Oh, it's definitely the parents fault that their kid was able to sneak that in their back pack and has not been told not to touch it.

I was just saying, as a teacher, I would definitely notice a kid taking liquor out of their backpack and pouring it into cups.

not accusing you of anything, but have you been in a classroom atmosphere as an adult?

I thought so (I vaguely remembered that). So what are some of the reasons why a teacher/staff would miss this so blatantly? I know kinders are spazzes and it's like herding cats, but wouldn't this be a doable thing??

Student to teacher ratio maybe. I'm not sure if Kindergarten classes have multiple teachers in the class. Aides and such.

Classroom setup. Alot of times in these classes, there are cubbies by the door that block some view. That could have allowed this to happen. I will say working in a classroom I am constantly on the move, vigilant about students because I know kids like to get into things.

Again, if there was only one teacher that makes keeping an eye on all the kids at all times more difficult.

Whoa. Aids huh? I didn't know there were rules on too many teachers having aids in one classroom.
