Week to week. Whatever it is sounds serious now as I’m thinking kakko gone for the rest of the season and part or all of true playoffs. Wish they would just say what the deal is with his leg. This sucks

The New York Rangers announced prior to practice today that Kaapo Kakko is “week to week” with a lower-body injury.

After practice the head coach was asked if Kakko being out week-to-week meant that he could be out for awhile.

“Definitely not,” Gallant noted. “I fully, fully expect him to be ready for the playoffs. Again things can change but I’d be shocked.

Sounds like he should be good for the playoffs. Ideally you'd like him to be playing now to get into a rhythm, but if he is back for the playoffs I think it is all good.

Gallant says he expects Kakko to play the last 2 or 3 regular season games. I think the Rangers did the Fox contract right. I get the sense Fox at 30 is going to be very diminished.

At least Laf looks like he will be durable unlike Kappo or Chytil

Yep. Strome is out next year. Much rather have Copp, Motte and Vatrano. Then they can put Lafreniere on the PP.

He has missed half the season due to injury. What would you really expect out of him in the playoffs at this point?

He scored 2 goals after his second game back. He's well rested. After he looked dominant in the pre-season and was hurt game 3, maybe he never got healthy until he just came back. He's basically has been hurt or played hurt almost all season.

I don't get all the love for Motte. He's serviceable but should by no mean be a priority for them to sign to a long term deal. If anything he is a roster spot blocker for younger guys in the system.

He brings so much speed to our fourth line and he made our forecheck a ton better. I was looking at his stats he didn’t have a point in 9 games but he was noticeable almost every single game

The young guys in our system should not be playing on the fourth line. Othmann, Cuylle and Korczak all are top 3 line guys. I would say at least two out of the three need two years in the Ahl.
