    I have one of these --> upload_2022-4-21_14-14-24.jpeg

    Last evening we were visiting family and I noticed that the silver disk (the actual mechanism) was missing from the key ring. I'm, like, hmmm...that's odd. But whatayagonna do? Well, I guess I should do what it was intended for (sans keys.)

    The device connects via an App. So, I whip out the iPhone and say, "Hey, Siri, find my keys." Sure enough, an address appears. The location is a number of miles away. I left our gathering a bit later. I then do the whole Hey Siri bit again and head down the road as it instructed.

    I showed up at the house about 15 minutes later and knock on the door. When a woman answers, I'm, like, sheepishly, "Exuse me. Sorry to bother you, but I have one of those Apple devices that helps you track your keys or wallet? Well, the little disk fell out of my key chain and....." She smiles, and says, "Yep! It's here!"

    Anyway, she then goes and gets it, hands it to me, and I ask her where she found it. She told me she picked it up in the parking lot of a local grocery store, didn't know what it was, or what to do with it until she figured that all out when she got home. She had planned to connect with it via her own phone (not sure how that works), and it would give her my contact info. She just hadn't gotten around to doing that.

    I told her that, through the App, I could track the device to any spot in the home, as well.

    I thanked her, of course. I thought later that I should have given her some money. I could still do that. :)

    For the record, though, I hear there are some unintended issues with the device...

    I may get one of these to throw in my car, in case someone steals it.

    I have one for my keys and one in my wallet. They're actually very cool.

    I think the distance (from your phone) is limitless. That's a really good idea. She bought me four. I have a couple of extras I'll put in each of our vehicles.

    The actual purpose of the device is to track the owner of the device.

    I'll top you!

    Dropped my cellphone and wallet in the Fred Meyer parking lot. Drove away. Realized it, drove back, it was gone, freaked out.

    I drove home and went on iCloud - "Find my phone." And there it was, in a car in a parking lot a mile from here. I drove over, saw the car, saw a lady with my phone in her hand, and she said, "Are you Steve"? She had just tried to call my wife.

    Got everything back. Wow!

    THat did happen a few years ago on NYE downtown Nashville. Fortunately, when I called it, they answered and we met up to get my phone back. I hear there are actual disoirders now when some people lose their phones. It is a big deal.
