Boy, did Chris Wallace screw up. https://www.usatoday.com/story/ente...cnn-shutdown-down-why-it-happened/7400934001/ CNN+ is dead: Here’s what killed the streaming news service only a month after it began
"As in any implosion, there is a host of factors behind it, but the biggest is Discovery’s acquisition of WarnerMedia, CNN’s parent company. The merger became official April 8; the new company, Warner Bros. Discovery, wasted no time cleaning house." It was a business move and no other reason.
Yep. Chumping a gullible public for profit and making a mockery of the truth. We truly ARE a wonderful country……..and so very screwed……..
I don't know about the screwed part, maybe I'm being naïve but I like to think the extremists on either side are just the very vocal ones and those of us sitting closer to the middle still have a stronger voice. I could be very wrong about that, but it's at the very least my hope. Go back through the decades and at turbulent times, it's always "We've never been more divided" or "This country is doomed" and yet we have always come out the other side. Things ebb and flow in life, the only constant is that things will continue to change.
This is just the first of many victims because not every damn company needs their own streaming service. And frankly, I suspect that most of the people who religiously watch CNN or Fox are using cable and wouldn't use a streaming service anyway. Things are coming to a head. People are starting to have to make decisions about what they want to keep. We currently use Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Paramount, Sling, and HBO. I'm getting ready to cut Netflix after all their bullshit, and I usually cut HBO after I have binged their stuff. But all this stuff adds up. It's worse than cable back in the day. Who is going to want to squeeze CNN or Fox into an already crowded rotation of services?
They jacked up their prices because they knew the only reason why most people would have 4+ simultaneous streaming devices was because of password sharing, and now they're cracking down on password sharing again. They have lost a lot of their content, their original stuff is drying up, and they're one of the most expensive services already. We mostly keep them for the kid shows, but I can probably get most of that on Youtube. You haven't been seeing the endless posts about Netflix on Reddit?
@SlyPokerDog https://popculture.com/streaming/news/netflix-officially-adding-commercials/ Netflix Officially Adding Commercials
Even better, now they want to go the way of Hulu and start running ads ... it's all just going back to the cable model. I remember telling people this about Just devolving more and more into the cable model, only now people will be spending more to stream all these services. Moral of the story, the big corporations will always find a way to make more and more and more! I'm ready to be done with Netflix, most of their content is garbage reality shows and 'true' crime shows. There are a million of those to watch, while their movies are blah and their decent original shows are ending when Ozark and Stranger Things go away. I'd much rather pay for HBO and rewatch The Sopranos, The Wire, Curb etc over and over again over the dreck put out by some of these streamers.
Netflix isn't adding commericals to all plans, they are going to offer a cheaper plan that has commercials. The plan you have now won't be getting commercials.
