Tesla shares slide could put Musk's Twitter takeover at risk Instance #9 billion of the world not making sense to me: why is Tesla, maker of niche crappy exploding cars, the "most valuable car company in the world"?
You're just talking about a genuine rival. But what about a niche product for people nostalgic for "Old Twitter"? A sort of Gab/Gettr for lefties? Once again, I keep seeing Mastodon mentioned, but that looks way too complicated for me. Where's the Reddit-like version of Twitter? Something that looks ten years old? I'll go there! I've got no followers to lose - I just want to check up on trends without having to see Donald Trump and shitposters clog up the place.
What is it that you've seen that showed that he did it amazingly under cost? I do like his occasional stunts like the battery thing for that Australian town, but I don't think his private space company is anything but a toy for rich people. And how much funding has he gotten from the government?
You should be able to block Trump so you don't have to see anything he says. Again, I don't really use Twitter, but that seems like fairly basic functionality. I checked out Mastodon briefly, but again, since I've never gotten into Twitter it didn't have much appeal to me. To me, the appeal of Twitter is that it's the first place most breaking news is reported. But the bots and other BS gets in the way and I haven't had the motivation to figure out how to bypass that. Discord is a great place for communities...
100% It is telling that a man, who grew up with power during apartheid, and seems to miss that aspect of society, came to America to find success. And if anyone has doubts about his underlying racist tendencies, just look up all of the discrimination lawsuits filed against Tesla from black employees. It is not pretty. Fuck Elon.
His space company developed the first reusable rockets. The cost to put a payload in space has cratered since then. They are developing the first fully reusable spaceship, which will crater prices further. This toy is enabling a freight train to space. People in the industry are absolutely awe-struck or terrified. SpaceX does use government money, but they typically do far more with about half as much as the competition. https://www.inverse.com/innovation/crew-dragon-compare-contrast-starliner#:~:text=However, NASA awarded Boeing a,and $55 million for SpaceX. And Tesla completely revolutionized the electric car industry. Teslas (electric cars in general) explode far less often than gasoline powered vehicles... They have developed the best charger technology, as well as pushed battery development, further driving prices down. I'm not a Musk fan boy, but what he has accomplished is very impressive.
I feel like Musk has kind of addressed this. The laws of the country are pretty clear. He has said that anything that breaks the law of the country should be removed. Anything in a grey area should stay. So simply allow each country to select a board to mod what is viewable in their own country...
