After signing the legislation into law, DeSantis' office issued a statement clarifying that "it is not the understanding or expectation for SB 4-C, abolishing independent special districts, to cause any tax increases for the residents of any area of Florida."

The statement continued, "In the near future, we will propose additional legislation to authorize additional special districts in a manner that ensure transparency and an even playing field under the law."

 

“The near future” being when DeIdiot’s political future has been determined one way or another. He’s pissed enough Floridians off that he now needs to throw them a sop (AKA “lie”) in the hopes they’ll keep voting for him. He appeases his mindless base by bashing a conjured up “enemy” while winking at those who are opposed to his actions. Political cynicism at it’s finest……

Geoff Morrell, the chief corporate affairs officer who helped architect Disney's public response to Florida's so-called "Don't Say Gay" legislation, has decided to leave the company.

"After three months in this new role, it has become clear to me that for a number of reasons it is not the right fit," Morrell said in a letter to his team that CNBC has obtained. "After talking this over with [Disney CEO] Bob [Chapek], I have decided to leave the company to pursue other opportunities."

"For a number of reasons it is not the right fit." Yeah I can think of a few buddy. I bet Ron DeSantis can too!


Here's the kicker, folks:

According to people who worked with him, Morrell set out to be more transparent with Disney's communication than his predecessor, Zenia Mucha, who was known to closely guard Disney's image.

Oookay, so the lady before him was more interested in "closely guarding Disney's image," and then after 12 weeks on the job this guy has absolutely and maybe irrevocably tarnished Disney's image?


Shoulda stuck with the Zenia Mucha approach, Mr. Morrell!

• During a Thursday townhall in Orlando, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis insisted that Disney is the one that will be paying up, not Florida residents
• 'No. Disney will pay its debts,' he said. 'Disney will, for the first time, actually live under the same laws as everybody else in Florida. Imagine that.'
• Earlier this week Disney hit back at DeSantis over his decision to strip the Reedy Creek Improvement District of special privileges
• The entertainment company said that there is a clause in its original contract that stipulates the state is responsible for its $2 billion bond debt
• Many believe DeSantis removed Disney's special privilege status because the entertainment giant vocally opposed his so-called Don't Say Gay bill

 

It's definitely all good.

 

So Disney told him he’s outta luck and will just pay the bonds they were going to pay anyway and they will do exactly what they were going to do anyway?
How is that anything positive for DeSantis?
Kind of seems like he got clowned again?

 

Conversely, Dislney is slighltly bigger than their britches. Trying to make a power-play here. Brother. I doubt Walt would approve.

 

If DeSantis has a valid reason for this circus, it is real simple. All he has to do is return the $100K in donations he took from Disney before they had to nerve to disagree with him. If he keeps the money, he proves he is a hypocrite and fraud.

 

That's a fair request.

 

Some people find bullies admirable. Never understood myself. Fundamentally they are weak. Can't persuade so they abuse

 

I agree, Disney is a bully.
