They quite literally ran the campaign that put him in the Oval Office and even now, after everything, they STILL shower him with publicity? And in turn, people on the left eat it up and refuse to stop talking about the guy. Then, in response to that, people on the right begin to bring him up even more to make the left squirm. Donald Trump should be history at this point yet he dominates every news hour. Doesn’t it get old to you? Quit watering the douche plant, it may actually go away. You hit the nail squarely on the head on so many of your points. We SHOULD just ignore the guy. But some of us see too many of his actions as seriously damaging to what we consider "democracy". And they are still encroaching. So it's very difficult to just "ignore". And too many politicians are following his example. He gave America permission to rip off the already very thin veneer of civility and respect for others. He made it permissible to be an insufferable boor if we so choose. Hey, it's our "right". But is that really the most effective way to move forward in an already severely divided country? Where are the fucking adults in this country?? The infoworld is already pretty much one big lie. The president of the United States called people from Mexico rapists/drug dealers/etc….. My kid’s great grandparents came from Mexico. It’s tough to have your child ask you why the president said this. I could go on and on….but really shouldn’t have to. Having the world hear the hate speech spew from the leader of the free world is not something I miss as a parent of impressionable children. It's just the rules of the platform, protected by the 1st Ammendment. The same reason certain sites can ban anybody is the same reason they can allow anybody. I don't think fear has anything to do with it. The problem is that we allow individuals to control this much wealth.
Remember what happened when Fox bought MySpace? I think that's what we can expect if Musk does what the left is afraid he will with Twitter. Then people will move to the next thing. One thing I can promise you. In 10 years nobody will be using twitter unless it improves by leaps and bounds.
