Now that the season is done, and no matter how positive you want to be this series was joke youth or not, Drury has some work to do. Need a LD, need a legit # 2 C, need a FO specialist, cannot have Chytil as your # 3 C, Strome 100% has to be gone, I would bring back Copp, and have to wonder do Z and Pan have what it takes in the playoffs. And I'll add, we need a head coach that finally gets on this team for over passing and playing an East-West game...you will not win in the playoffs with that style. Until that changes I don't think the Rangers will win in the playoffs. BTW - Fox needs to shoot more next season. Teams have figured him out. Guy refuses to shoot. He is at the head of the over passing list.
Too many soft shots from outside the circle along the wall...and from the point taking too long and shots are blocked
You need to trade either Panarin or Z and capitalize on them now while you still can. Can get a lot back for either of them. We have plenty of young guys that can overpass and disappear in the playoffs like both of them so either of them are dispensable.
They should've never extended that piece of crap Zibanejshmuk. Never shows up in the playoffs. Kreider has been an absolute disgrace as well.
This has been the issue since the Pens have gone to their 3rd stringer. Pens have forced the Rangers to the outside and this soft ass team stays outside. I said it in the last game.
I disagree with the dmen are soft comment. Trouba was not soft at all this year, Schneider was not, Lindgren certainly isn't. We have enough grit and toughness on D - they may have not shown it this series, but they did the last 40% of the season. We desperately need someone who can win a damn FO. And I think we need a very different mentality. We have a pretty, East-West, pass first mentality and it has to change for us to win in the playoffs. I come out of this series more concerned about our big money forwards than our D. You add a LD and another year of maturity to the D and I think we are good. Our soft, pass happy forwards I am not so sure about.
Issue is Kreider has been invisible but his game is in front of the goal deflecting shots and screening the goalie but the Rangers need to be shooting pucks from the circles, not the blue line and the boards all the time. It’s an all around failure by this team starting with the lack of coaching and adjustments.
When the rubber hits the road in the playoffs is when true grit and determination comes out. Anyone can throw a hit in a meaningless regular season game. But when it truly matters most (when we were plying the Canes for first place and now in the playoffs) this team consistently showed they were soft. Sorry to burst your bubble. and the pass happy shit has been an issue since AV.
Perfect example..kakko..skates in ..shoots..blocked...instead of driving to the net and causing somehing...perhaps draw a penalty
I am also not a guy who gets on coaches, but Gallant did a sh*t job coaching in this series, like majorly sh*tty. Kept putting Nemeth out there, didn't hold anyone accountable for the over passing, no structure. He is not AV, but he is another "players coach", and I am not sure the discipline that is needed is there with him.
We'll agree to disagree on the D. They are young and learning, outside of Trouba. It is a talented group, with a good mix of toughness and skill. I am WAY more concerned about the forwards and their style of play than I am with the D and what the future looks like there. Not close for me.
How many years before Igor pulls a Roy and quits on the team and demands a trade. For fucks sake. This is literally like watching an AV game. No defensive zone structure at all. Just a bunch of guys who bail outta the zone the second we touch the puck, but then are pussies and soft as fuck and won’t crash the net even if they get the chance. So it’s dumb as fuck that they leave so quick.
Actually last game I blasted fox..and fox is just as guilty for that last goal... But I picked on kakko because as I was typing...he was the one that did a prime example of what I was talking about
