GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Packers running back Ahman Green is out for the season with a torn thigh tendon, the latest in a string of severe injuries to befall Green Bay.Coach Mike Sherman said Monday that Green will undergo surgery this week to repair his right thigh tendon, which was torn in the fourth quarter of the Packers' 23-20 loss at Minnesota on Sunday.Sherman also said wide receiver Robert Ferguson will miss up to a month with a torn lateral cruciate ligament in his left knee, which he injured in the first quarter Sunday.Green, who struggled this season after four straight trips to the Pro Bowl, went down hard on his right knee when he was tackled by linebacker E.J. Henderson with 8 minutes left and was carted off the field. He sustained the same injury on Oct. 3 and sat out the following game against New Orleans. He gained 49 yards on 16 carries against the Vikings. For the season, Green had 255 yards on 77 carries for a career-low 3.3-yard average and no touchdowns _ not the type of season anybody expected out of the 28-year-old Green in a contract year.Sherman said Green would be able to return by next summer.Green is the fourth key player to sustain a season-ending injury, joining Pro Bowl wide receiver Javon Walker (ACL), backup running back Najeh Davenport (ankle) and rookie receiver/returner Terrence Murphy (neck).Walker and Davenport also aren't under contract for next year. The Packers (1-5) will be without their top two running backs and three of their top receivers as they head into a brutal stretch in which they face Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Minnesota and Philadelphia."If you can't handle that part of the game, then you're in the wrong game whether you're a player or a coach," Sherman said. "Against a very good Cincinnati team we have to find a way, and it's not going to be easy but we have to find a way."

I've seen Davenport make some plays w/ his legs though so maybe he can step up and be a big part of their offense. We've already seen that the wideouts can make plays through the air w/ the absense of Javon Walker, their season aint over till its over.

oops, yeah thats bad, I dont follow the Pack much but I knew he was the 2nd string, yeah thats a big blow thenScrewed?
I feel bad for the Packers with all those injuries.I remember a few years ago, when the Bears had injuries every game like the Packers do now.
yeah thats a pretty bad body-bag season. I think as long as they have Favre, they can do anything though, don't EVER count them out.
Yeah. I hope the Packers can somehow turn this diaster season around. Gonna be tough but they still got a chance because of how weak their division is.
It might be a weak division right now, but the Lions had a great win with Garcia and the Bears D is really stepping it up, and their running game is on fire.
Bad, defintely facing a bad Cincinatti Run D next..And this is great news for Vikings fans!!He wasnt having much of a season anyways
Still he demanded some respect from the defense and kept them honest. Now the Offense is strictly in Favre's hands. So I think it's safe to say at halfway through the season that the Saints, Packers, Browns, Cardinals, Jets, Dolphins, Titans, Niners & Texans wont be making the Playoffs?
this is just terrible. Our season has just gotten worse, can we stop the rot? Favre is our only hope, it wouldnt surprise me if he got injured and couldnt play
Favre hasn't missed a start in years, he's played with a broken thumb, the flu, and through a family members death.Would take a helluvalot to take him out of the game.
I wouldn't be surprised if Brett Favre come back next year. I just don't think he is ready to go. I hope he come back next year, then maybe they have a good shot at the playoffs. Then the year after, Aaron Rogers will be a better quarterback with Brett Favre's help. I just don't want him to go. His time isn't up.
