The existence of Twitter in its current position makes it nearly impossible for a better alternative to twke over. If Musk makes it worse it creates a fantastic opportunity for a better alternative. That's why I'm not at all worried about it. If it's shit, I just won't go there. Just like I no longer go to MySpace. I don't miss it at all.

True, but that's going to happen on TRUTH or whatever they can find. It happens now in private Facebook, Instagram, telagram, signal, and Discord groups... Restrictions aren't the answer to this problem. Education is the answer. I'm intrigued by the idea of Musk open sourcing the algorithm, and making all moderation actions public. As well as reducing the platforms reliance on advertising. I think we'll learn a lot from this experiment, and I think it will end up being a good thing. I think the worst case scenario is Twitter trending heavily right wing, at which point it will lose all public trust and go the way of MySpace.
