If the teams with veterans such as Toronto and Detroit hold firm on their asking price I don't like the Blazers chance of a successful offseason.

Cronin has enormous pressure to add veterans to the roster that can help the team win next season. To get the best deal a GM needs to be willing to walk away and say no in negotiations. I'm very concerned we end up giving away the #7th pick plus more future picks for a mediocre roster that is worse than we had before last deadline.

I'll ask Jake some questions to followup in his call coming up at 10. He has at times given more detail than what he was able to write about.

Of course TOR is going to ask the moon - IMO pick 7 with TPE is fair value

Well, had they been able to draft him, knowing Stotts, he would've been buried on the bench or told to exclusively shoot 3's.

I agree. This “In Shoes” measurement is so bogus.
What shoes? Flip flops? High heels?

Can we get an 11’ tall guy in shoes???

Should hockey players heights be listed with their skates on? Ridiculous. Someone's height is what they measure barefoot period

I wonder if taller hockey players play at a disadvantage because of how they're further away from the puck.

Theres a history of NBA players height listed with shoes.

If players are listed barefoot it makes them appear short or limited. Look at all the detractors here on Norman Powell being a 6'3" SF.

Exactly, if we found out we were getting a 6-5 sg who plays solid d and has a 62% ts, we'd be happy. Thats josh hart.

I think OG is the most likely player to be traded on the roster but I think teams would line up for him, driving up the price. I don't think Portland needs him that badly.

    Maybe that is true.

I look at it as a team barely wins two playoff games following a 27 win season; why would their third best forward whom they are willing to dump be worth a lot?

Jake said multiple sources around the league are mentioning "friction" around his minimized role.

Portland has been repeatedly trying to get OG using the TPE.

OG wants a bigger role. Doesn't mean he really wants out, but wants clarity in his role.

    Utah has also made overtures.

Also an interesting nugget... Raptors were among the teams to meet with Daniels at the combine.

And the dude is going to make over $18m/season for the next three years. He's not good enough to make a big difference on a bad team, and that's too much money to be considered a good value. I'd take him, but giving up value for him doesn't make much sense to me for a team that's so far away from being good.

18 mil/yr for a guy who is among the league leaders in defensive impact is a value contract in today's NBA. my only issue with OG is his durability.

Now I agree if healthy he has value on that contract. But your right in that his health concerns lower that value.

How much is his discounted health value exceed $18 million per season? I certainly wouldn't say near enough to be worth the highest pick the Blazers have been slotted at in 15 years.
