We'll see. It's going to be a very interesting draft day.

Only playing 43 and 48 games in his last two seasons is not good.

Oddly enough, they traded down to get him. Damn that pesky history and facts.

I didn't realize he was so unathletic, he's at the bottom of the pack on every drill at the combine. That being said, he has the sixth highest standing reach in the draft so maybe a team would be smart to have him put on a little more weight and play him as a stretch big but with that limited athletic ability, he can't project to be better than a backup. I guess he just looked a lot better in the video I've seen of him because he was playing against such low level talent.

Seriously, this whole "trading down is so stupid" thing completely neglects that this year teams and scouts have their draft boards all over the place and the fact that the last 4 MVPs went to two guys that were drafted 15th and 27th. For anyone who is saying that there aren't guys in this draft that could be this underestimated I would point to Dieng and Jovic as two examples I see from my limited perspective.

Trading down to the third pick is much, much different than trading out of the draft.

Damn that pesky reading comprehension stuff.

“They didn’t trade a chance at Tatum for a chance at a mediocre role player”.

And I’m pretty sure I was the first person on this board to suggest trading down to either Charlotte or the Spurs, a loooooong time ago…

When Sochan was a last first / early second.

So I’ve got no issue with trading down. Trading the pick for Jerami Grant or some mid tier player is what I was referring to.

Although at this point in time I think we would be better off staying at 7, though two at bats is most likely better than one for the reason the guy above stated. MVPs and stats have been found all over the draft.

If you tier this draft, i think 4-10 probably all fall into the the same sort of tier. the draftees are developing some sort of resolution to be able to rank order them better now, but there are no surefire stars. I'm obviously developing favorites too, but none of that is based on someone being a guaranteed star over others based on a massive body of work.

if we can go from 7 to 9 while picking up an asset like 20 for that drop, we HAVE to be open to that.

    You can’t be serious.

There has been an ocean sized amount of speculation that the Blazers will trade he #7 pick for Jerami Grant.

Also, based on a majority of what Mediocre Man has posted, if you believe it, it seems they have no intention of drafting anyone. (I don’t believe it).

But you can’t honestly tell me there wasn’t an entire fucking thread devoted to “Jerami Grant for #7”. That didn’t pop up out of no where lmao

    Hello,
I believe your comment regarding trading out of the draft was on the topic of the Celtics trading down for Tatum, which is not trading out of the draft.
I can completely understand the confusion if you went from the example of trading down for Tatum, which was in reference to trading down and not out, to the Grant thread, without actually bringing it up.
I think this is the best route for the team is to trade down. 7 for 9 and 20 would be fantastic!
I think I'm selling myself some pyrite though….
Still wish we had the NO pick too….

Sure there has been speculation.....but also as much more more (specifically in that thread) about how not very many people think that is a good idea. Correct? And many of those who were open to trading for Grant, wanted to trade for multiple assets and trade ONE of those lesser assets for Grant? Yes? So if it is at @Mediocre Man, (whom I find to be a largely very reasonable poster) perhaps @ him instead of quoting me. That would help with a lot of confusion right there.

So yes, I am serious. And since the Blazers have 3 picks, even if they trade one of them, that isn't exactly trading out of the Draft.

I, as everyone here knows, know nothing. That being said, from what I was told and who told it to me, I would be SHOCKED if Portland kept the 7th pick.

I never said anything about trading out of the entire draft though

I would be shocked if the Blazers don't draft and keep the best player on their list after the first 6 are taken, whether that's at #7 or later. If Cronin can somehow trade for a star or up-and-coming potential star (that is healthy), that would be the shock for me.

If Daniels is gone before 7, it means at least one of Ivey, Sharpe or Murray will still be there.
