With Neil gone, my Blazer inside scoop is almost gone. I’m down to one guy. Anything Warrior related I’m good still.
But you've been saying that if people don't want Grant they're going to be disappointed, right? Also earlier you said you don't expect us to stay at seven but we would still draft in the first round, right? If I'm putting words in your mouth, I'm sorry but you can correct what I got wrong.
Honestly don’t remember any of that. I may have said something like prepare yourself to be disappointed or something but not because I have any insight. As far as moving or staying at 7, not me.
Any chance they try to dump Wiseman in salary/tax related move? Could we get him for pick #35 and a TPE?
Because, as many have noted, the top three will likely be difference makers with 4-10 being another category of similar potential players with flaws or development requirements. We would need to have a specific player in mind to trade up for and I do not see a player worth it outside of the top three. We just need to scout and draft better.
None of us do. Just explaining why it would make sense for them to say things like the OP suggested, even if they're planning on trading the pick.
Thats my point if they have a specific player they absolutely want trade up. I think it's more like top 5 or 6 and if the guy we want is there, why not at least try.
#13 Utah acquired third pick from Portland for picks 6 and 27 and a future first-rounder (2005) Cohen’s Analysis: The Jazz used the No. 3 pick on Deron Williams, who to this point of his career had his best days in Utah. In fact, he led the Jazz to the conference finals in just his second year in the NBA. Credit to Utah for landing D-Will at the right time and trading him (to Nets in 2011) at the right time also. The Blazers took Martell Webster and Linas Kleiza (traded to Denver) with the sixth and 27th picks.
If the front office responded to every rumor floating around, they would have no time for anything else.
I am not sure this draft predicts a sure bet in 5-6 like it projects for 1-3(Not even sure 1-3 projects as sure bets?) So why give up more assets to move up 1-2 spots for what will likely be the same type of player regardless? I would rather move down 1-2 spots to gain another pick and still have the draft option of a similar player in 8-10 as we had at 5-7. That seems like a higher chance of making us better than giving up something to move up a couple spots to draft within the same caliber tier of players. What would it take to move into the top three? I would be more interested in that than moving to 5-6.
you don't think having essentially the entire FO as well as Dame sit front row for the Daniels workout is enough? i think we are well past the day of (as you say... transparent) smokescreens. i tend to think they'll explore all options and do their due diligence to vet the potential draftees sufficiently before deciding whether to move the pick. Whether their evaluations end up being correct is another issue, but at least they'll do the work.
Say Murray is the guy 100%, Chauncey, Dame & Joe, but they dont think he would be there at 7 and he should be there at 4-6? He's the guy that could come in and contribute at the 3/4 and if we acquired another forward vet, we'd be in decent shape. I do like Sochan and if thats who the blazers have targeted, him or Eason trade down but how far?
No, that's awesome. I wasn't aware until this morning that they had done that. That's exactly the kind of organizational interest/ excitement over this pick that I wanted to see.
The Blazers should never acknowledge or respond to rumors. Only exception is to help a current member of the roster. But I don't like any of the rhetoric from Cronin and Dame. It appears their delusional of the talent on this roster, and how to build assets long term to become a contender. Hope I get proven wrong.
That is tough because unless we trade up to four, which may cost way more than I would personally like to give up, we are still taking a chance of trading up and not getting the guy we coveted. It seems in order to do so, it would require some sort of inside knowledge/agreement with the teams above us that we either know who they are drafting, or know they will not draft our guy. Otherwise that seems like a serious gamble… depending on what we have to give up. What would you be willing to give up to trade up to 4?
