Land of the free? While politics gets in the way of doing what is right, we as citizens barely have hope that even small progress can be made. Land of the free? I never said there is only one solution. For there too be improvement, this issue is going to need multiple changes. But we need to get there, one step at a time.

I don't think it's necessary to target anybody in particular... Except those who have violent history and meet the definition the two doctors in Shaboid's link suggested. It's not hard to find these people before they commit these acts. We just need to decide to do it.
I don't live in fear of being on the wrong side of gun violence. If you're living in fear of that you haven't looked at the numbers. It's very unlikely to happen. So incredibly unlikely. You're far more likely to be struck by lightning. Be prepared, for sure. But don't be afraid. Being afraid is how you get tricked into making poor decisions.
Japan and Germany were disarmed after WWII.....turned out pretty good for them turning swords into plowshears...they retooled modern factories instead of building weapons and made out like bandits in the world market...only now do they feel the need to rebuild their armies so many decades later. building Toyotas and Benz instead of tanks and fighter jets.
there is when it's obvious those rights are being abused at the expense of the civilian population. I'll vote for that to happen tomorrow and feel safer for it ...as it is nobody here feels safe..
