This video posted today, June 4th, 2022. 2022 NBA Draft prospect Dyson Daniels film session with Mike Schmitz | NBA on ESPN
I wonder how hard Schmitz is pushing Cronin to take him. Can’t be a coincidence that he’s high on him and Daniels is our only lottery workout so far.
Said he is pushing 6'8". More interesting. Very well spoken and comes off as very mature for his age. Like his defensive flexibility. Had a nice run to finish the year shooting ~45% from '3'. The Blazers could use a player that is that defensively switchable and can make a playmaking decision. The float game is strong. I like him.
1:20 into this video Daniels details that he's grown from 6'7 barefoot to pushing 6'8. Thats quite the growth spurt he's on since he just measured 6'6 barefoot way back May 16, 2022. STOMP
I think Daniels is a decent prospect. I just don't like him at 7, where potentially go-to guys who could be stars might be available. More like a mid-first, late lottery kinda guy. Similar tier as Sochan for me.
This video was filmed in late March so unless they really botched his measurements at the combine, he's 6'6" barefoot.
We’re gonna trade the 7th pick to Toronto for OG, they’re gonna draft Daniels, and he’ll develop into an all star.
That is a fair statement. But who do you consider a go-to guy in this draft? I would not consider Murray to be that guy, and that sounds like who most want at #7
I disagree on Murray. I think he can be a 20pt scorer in the league fairly soon. If the talk about ivey dropping is real, I'd thank my lucky stars and draft him. I even see Johnny Davis and maybe Mathurin having the ability to score in bunches if needed from the team.
USA Today had a Mock with Daniels at #6 to the Pacers and NBA Draft Room has him up to #5. He is really climbing in most Mocks.
sadly true. Knowing that their scouting is so good, we should just act like we are trading with them, get them to give us their pick for 7, then just draft that player ourselves. I trust Masai’s player evaluation skills more than Joe
What people think they see: a smaller, poor man's version of Ben Simmons. What he likely is: Evan Turner, part 2.
I guess it is possible that his 3pt shooting percentage will never improve, but when you watch Daniels shoot an outside shot, are you really reminded of ET?
If they don't regularly change up the order reranking guys, who will read the adverts? I like him, don't love him. IF he develops a consistent deep ball to keep the D guessing, then he'll be a real positive on offense. That skill isn't a given to add but it's a reasonable bet he will in time. I'd love to have multiple playmakers in the rotation but since he's not a top level run jump athlete, until that shot comes along he'll be pretty limited offensively. I don't think he'll ever be the primary point but would fit nice beside smaller more athletic combo guards... like Ant. STOMP
Yes, he can be a 20 pt scorer because he is a good outside shooter and looks like he will fit well in the NBA game. But I am not convinced he will be a g0-to guy against NBA defenses. Does he have the ball-handling skills for that?
