Bears DL Johnson gets probation for gun charge

    CHICAGO -- Chicago Bears defensive lineman Terry "Tank" Johnson was placed on probation for 18 months after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge.Johnson, also ordered to perform 40 hours of community service and pay a $2,500 fine, originally faced a felony charge after police found a loaded 9 mm handgun in the vehicle he was driving outside a nightclub in June.Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Tom Stanton said Johnson pleaded guilty Tuesday to misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon.He was arrested after a valet outside the club told police he saw Johnson move a handgun from his lap to the center console of his vehicle.

    When will people learn they still have to follow the law even if they are football players.

    Never. That's my least favorite thing about the NFL. There seems to be someone geting arested every day.

    Some guys just never mature once they get drafted, they just think they are LIVEN THE LIFE, they just gotta mature. They got to get out of that thought process. Just because they are big and rich doesn't mean that they are gangsters. I mean every man has a right to have a gun, but still...

    What about NBA players doing the wacky tobaccy and getting off scott-free? Or Bertuzzi driving Moore into the ground? If you or I did one of these things, we'd be in prison.
