Duren at 19 years old stands to grow another inch or two before he comes into his own (crazy to think). I imagine his quick feet and mobility won't diminish too much as he's been growing into his body. He has all the tools you can't teach IMO. If he's available at #7 I'd take him. I'm all in on Duren.
No reason he can’t. He has the foot speed. Nurk could easily pop up and open that key with just Duren down there
I actually thinking some "banging down low" is pretty advantageous to our mental well being. Hurts so good.
I would absolutely love it if we traded back and he was available at 11. The trade would be Bledsoe, 7 and 36 for 11, Randle and the Mavs first rounder next year. We could then give the Pistons the Mavs pick and Bucks pick for Grant who would fit into the TPE. We'd have to figure out if we wanted to re-sign Nurk but I think we would.
I basically posted this in the playoff thread. If you wanna see what Duren would add to Portland, watch Robert Williams. Very similar. I know we need more than that, and desperately need wings, but sheesh
Both Looney and Williams stay pretty close to the paint area. It's the wings around them that allow them to play that way....although with Draymond not being able to hit the broad side of a barn, they have 2 bigs that can't shoot.....and still made the Finals.
I would do #7 and Keon for #10 and Hachimura, then trade down from #10 to get something along with drafting Duren. That way you can at least fill the starting PF spot while getting Duren. Don’t think I’d want Nurk in all honesty if we draft Duren. If you’re confident that Duren can develop quickly at making reads and playmaking, let Nurk walk and try to sign Portis. Portis and Duren are different players at C and will be able to contribute in different ways. Dame/Ant/____/Hachimura/Portis with Hart, Little, and Duren on the bench and Bledsoe’s contract, $20m TPE, #36, #57, and the MIL pick to get better. Grant would be a last resort for me, I’m sure there will be better fits for the roster. Two 1sts for Grant would make me throw up.
running, jumping & falling on the hardwood (or if you're me, concrete) is what generally wears a hooper's body down more then any player contact. Gravity is a bitch STOMP
I'm pretty much positive that Duren won't make it out of the top 8. Your speculation seems fantastical. STOMP
Plenty of people think he’ll be outside the top 8. At some point, it’s not our speculation that’s fantastical, it’s probably yours lol. I don’t really root against anyone though, so I’d be happy to be wrong. Just hoping it’s not to us.
And what I responded, Williams was picked 27th. He doesn't matter at all if not for Tatum and brown. Find a Williams at 36. Hope for. 2 way wing at 7. Drafting Williams at 7 is an overdraft
This logic seems so straightforward to me. Not sure why others are not seeing this. It's also partly why im getting more and more interested in Sharpe this week. We need someone with a high ceiling. High risk yes, but the reward could be just as great. Ive spent approx 4 hrs watching every youtube video there is on Sharpe. He looks terrific but his competition was high schoolers. Its impossible to know how that will translate but i see why people ranked him so high.
Could be, though I've a pretty stellar record of being proven correct on things I take a stand on like I have on Duren. He's not going to be available lower in the draft, bank on it. STOMP
If the 2018 draft was done with 20/20 hindsight Williams would go near the top not 27th, Bagley wouldn't go #2 etc. This sort of miscalculation isn't exclusive for Bigs... Wings and & PGs are drafted too high and too low all the time as well. Hell, 2 way wing Josh Jackson went #4 also, Tatum and Brown don't win shit without Williams just like Curry doesn't advance without Draymond. I think Portland should find a Draymond at 36 lol! You should hear the Bay Area media gush about Williams as the prototypical modern Big & being the difference maker on the Celts. STOMP
