Jason seemed burned out when I first started and that was 20 years ago. Surprised it took him this long.

Glad he made mental health a priority...I hope he turns it around. It's been a challenging bunch of years for everyone.

That's some sobering realism from a guy whose work has left a lot of us with negative feelings. I wonder in a summer so crucial to the Blazers if the Athletic will pick up someone else to write about our team. Regardless of the shenanigans Quick has pulled in the past, I hope for the best for him. I hope he's getting the help he needs and does all of the best things for himself in his life. I appreciate his candor and his message about the importance of everyone taking care of their mental health.

glad he's taking time off, and also very glad this kinda break is being normalized.

I wonder who will cover the team now for the Athletic. I only subscribe to them because of his articles.

I'd guess Mike Richman? He's a close to Quick as any reporter out there. Kerry Eggers is my favorite guy to cover the team. I think he's about as good as it gets in sports journalism.

    Best wishes for Jason.
I know he rubs many the wrong way, but realize, that is his job.
He is a by-line, which means he is paid to relay info and most importantly, incite reactions.
I have always appreciated/enjoyed his work.

Ruthless? Guy is an absolute jerk who treats those around him like shit. He injects himself into almost ALL his stories, as if we need that. Guy is an ass. Now he’s taking the summer off and I’m supposed to feel sorry for him?

These tweets by him are no different than members on here who create a thread informing all of us that they need to take a break from the forum. C’Mon.

I did say that most of us, including me don't know the guy... I guess I should have said that seems pretty ruthless from the outside looking in.

how is that remotely similar? he's informing readers that pay to subscribe to the site that he will not be writing this summer. that seems important.

I have in the past. That dude took a private conversation we had at a table and the next morning was on local sports talk radio letting all of PDX know what was said. Fucked up. I called him out on it……Then he runs this 4 page article in the Oregonian about the Blazers Broadcasting and our traveling crew and left me out on purpose. My bosses lit into him about it. Guys an asshat.
