unless they had a strong development from their last games in college, i don't see anyone we've worked out starting on day 1-- maybe Mathurin, that's it. Keegan Murray is probably the only candidate who definitively fits this criteria, but who knows if he'll drop to us.

Then again, who could anticipate Nico starting 76 of 79 games for us his rookie year? It all depends on their bbiq.

All that said, i don't think whether they start day 1 matters. Jaylen Brown started only 20 games his rookie year, but started and put up 15 ppg every game in year 2. I think someone like Sharpe could be that.

Yeah, but his 25 minutes per game was still top 5 on his team and he essentially tied for the lead in rebounds.

i like the confidence. Terry's physical profile is almost identical to Daniels'. Games are sorta similar too, but Terry probably projects to be a better shooter.

I just like to look at the lesser guys who are working out:
Bouyee 5th year senior PG, project late 2nd round to undrafted.

Butler: more interesting 7'1" freshman (displayed a diverse skillset in 31 games. At his size, Butler operated as a ball-handler, defended multiple positions and shot consistently (39%) from the 3-point line. ) https://www.nba.com/draft/2022/prospects/john-butler Might not last to #36

Hall, combo guard who might not be drafted.

Terry: a big two way combo guard who probably won't fall to #36. https://www.tankathon.com/players/dalen-terry

I think there are a lot of false gauges being used to dismiss any move that Portland might make

gauging a draft pick by if he would be a day 1 starter is one of those false gauges. A lot of great players were not starters as rookies: Klay and Draymond; Giannis and Gobert. Paul Geroge wasn't but Nic Batum was. Kawhi only started half of the games his rookie season. Adebayo didn't regularly start till his 3rd season; same for Jimmy Butler; same for Siakam; same for LaVine. Miles Bridges came off the bench most of his rookie season

if there is a 3-4 year window with Dame the Blazers can tolerate a 1-3 year window with a draft pick

I agree with all of this. Some posters might think Dame's window is closing quicker than Dame probably thinks. But since the topic is about making him happy, then I am guessing he will be fine with the 1-3 year plan that you allude to.

Ask not what his team can do for Dame but what Dame can do for his team.

Funny, I was thinking about this quote yesterday. Not about sports but in general. That philosophy is long gone.

Yes, he would be ahead of Watford.
Watford was a VERY reluctant 3-point shooter with less than 1 attempt in his average 18 minutes per game. Only 14 percent of his shots were 3-pointers. He shot 24% on threes.

Sochan didn't hesitate to shoot 3-pointers and 38% of his shots were 3-pointers. He shot 30% on threes.

Sochan also has much better foot speed than Watford.

I was wondering the same thing but now I'm thinking they would lose a little leverage if nobody thought they might draft a player.
