Casey and Brooke both predicted we'll trade 7 for a player who is more ready to help now and Casey added a detail that we'll prolly get a first rounder as well. Casey also thinks we'll draft a center in the second round
What the HELL is legion hoops ?? or whatever site that is --- this deal might happen in some way but I would be shocked if it was a straight up 7 for Grant deal
I also love OG. I also think Nas and OG could co-excist. Much like what we see the Suns doing with Birdges and Crowder. Furthermore, the more I look at this draft, the more I'd like to stay away from it. Ivey and Daniels seem nice but I don't see the fit with us. Other than that, too many red flags among the top picks. Bledsoe + #7 for OG? Bring back Dunn at a minimum. I'm perfectly fine with not keeping Nurk, I like him, but he's just not reliable. What are our options with him? I like Hart enough to keep him around and guarantee that 12.4M. I'd also love to make a move to sign a few FA's so we can maybe let Greg Brown play in the G-League. Jalen Smith Kyle Anderson Deandre Ayton Gary Payton II (will probably be overpaid?) Tyus Jones (I'd like him over Dunn, but probably too expensive?) Obviously, I like Zach Lavine a lot, but that would mean moving Ant Simons back to the bench (or trade him: if he would net us a great C , I'd be fine with that > anyway we could use him to obtain Ayton in a S+T?). Dame / Payton II Lavine / Simons / Hart / Keon Little / Watford OG / Winslow Nurk / Smith / Eubanks Would be a pretty amazing team. Would there be a realistic path to getting this team together? The weakness could be shooting, maybe. Defense options could be insane, and I like surrounding Dame with players, as opposed to one trick ponies.
You need role players that fill a specific roll. It's not as simple as just adding up all-star appearances until you hit a magic number. OG is perfect for what we need from our SF.
The terms can be agreed upon (and therefore leaked) while only being able to be made official after a certain date in the future. It's happened multiple times including with RoCo and Anthony Davis.
Blazers don't have cap space to resign Nurk and Ant, even before your other moves, while signing Lavine
He's a good solid player but wouldn't you say Daniels at 7 could be as good, if not a starter in a year or two if not sooner? So would you trade 7 for OG A?
But the Blazers wouldn't have any FA $ to spend on a big if they use it to sign LaVine. To get your max level cap space do you also want to let Ant walk and don't trade Bledsoe for OG from your post? Those may be the needed moves to clear that max cap space. Gets the Blazers a starting lineup of; Dame LaVine Hart Little ? ? Maybe you can squeeze in one of Ant, Nurk, OG with some trades and other cap mechanics. Still that is not a good roster. There is no way to get the starting lineup you had in your post. Really all these hypotheticals have done IMO is show that its a poor strategy for the Blazers to use actual cap space. The Blazers are better off trying to get Ant and Nurk back on reasonable contracts or in sign and trades, using the TPE, and if possible trade EB contract.
Givony said Grant doesn't have close to the kind of value of getting #7. He estimates his value is closer to a late first. Thank you.
On the heels of him also reporting that Dame wants to play with Sharpe feels like anything but a coincidence to me... The whole world knew we were planning on trading a late lotto pick for Grant before the Pels made the playoffs (this would align perfectly with Cronin's approach to getting things done by overpaying).
i find it really odd how readily dame's name gets thrown around. First it was Ayton/OG. Now they're even attaching his name for draft picks.
