https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2022/06/hawks-rumors-collins-capela-grant-bogdanovic.html Good chance something goes down with the Blazers/Hawks/Pistons on draft night if Cronon doesn't get fleeced for OG...
I think it makes sense -- he's arguably the biggest lever of the offseason. If the rumor is coming internally, that's Cronin leaning into the global understanding that every move he makes is a direct reflection on what Dame wants for the team. Whether he wants to like it or not, that's the real reality of his situation as our GM. If the rumor is external, it's almost certainly teams invoking Dame's impatience to try to ramp up the pressure/urgency to make a needle-moving deal (or what you're trying to sell as a needle-moving deal, anyway) and drive our price down. You've got a superstar sitting on a crossroads pick in the draft with very clear and obvious needs -- pretty much the perfect setup for a TON of smoke. The caveat that I find interesting to think about amidst the "what is/isn't real" question... is Dame just being a different cat. Logic would reason that there's no benefit to Dame telling Givony what he's actually wanting, 2 days ahead of the draft. But Dame hasn't exactly always acted logically... so you can even question the subtext of the smoke Good times! First rule of this time of year -- believe nothing...
Yeah this seems something along the lines of what I guess Cronin would probably like to do as well. Send out the #7 and if necessary something else, but get two starting forwards; ATL #7 DET Bledsoe #16 POR Grant & Collins or possibly Cronin superior preference if they can get OG; TOR #7 DET Bledsoe, #33, 2025 Milwaukee pick POR Grant & OG The Blazers wouldn't have to guarantee the full EB contract, just enough to match the incoming salary of Collins or OG. Maybe the Blazers send Little or someone else out in the trade which further reduces the amount of EB guarantee to Detroit. Blazers resign Ant Nurk and get an MLE free agent. Dame Ant Hart MLE Keon Grant Little Didi OG (or Collins) Watford Nurk Winslow Brown
from that woo article: https://www.si.com/nba/2022/06/20/n...lmgren-paolo-banchero-latest-buzz-predictions Portland would be a pretty cushy landing spot for him. I would also keep an eye on Shaedon Sharpe here, if the Blazers decide to take the long view.
I don't like the Grant addition in either of these two scenarios. I'm fine with either Collins or OG. If we get one of those two - we are better served finding a wing elsewhere.
First off rumors are everywhere draft week and vast majority BS, secondly I would not mind Grant if he was relati Finally some reality! If they really want Grant how bout the Mil 25 and use the TPE
What about get both of those two but as you said leave out Grant? ATL Eric Bledsoe, #7 TOR Little, #16, 2025 Milwaukee pick PDX OG, Collins, Boban Dame Ant Hart MLE Keon OG Boban Didi Collins Watford Nurk Winslow Brown Fanspo shows the salaries match. I think if we do acquire two starting forward in trades this offseason we might see it in one deal of this type at the draft. It is easier to match the salaries and provide the most salary relief to other teams if the transaction can be structured as a 3 way trade, while providing the least guarantee amount needed to Eric Bledsoe contract. One player can come in via the trade exception and the other via matching Bledsoe plus any other Blazers salaries. Now if the Blazers only agree to bring in one starter in a trade at the draft, I think they'll aim to delay finalizing the deal until early July and try to add a 3rd team for the second starter as I mentioned. However the downside to waiting is the draft will be over with and completed at that time, and all picks made, so it is harder to get the 3rd team players they most want. That is why we might instead see it all happen Thursday.
UFA Grant is not worth a lotto pick. All these multi-team deals that nets Detroit a lotto pick is overpaying. A very protected pick/TPE is his value.
If the only vet that's available for the 7th pick is Grant I would rather just keep the pick and take a swing at Daniels/Sharpe/etc
Grant is NOT a UFA this tear, he has one yr left on his contract, fully agree a lotto pick is too much for grant
This is an interesting way of classifying players. Nassir Little is a restricted free agent, he will be restricted. Damian Lillard hasn't playing healthy for an NBA game in 25 months. Jusuf Nurkic and Anfernee Simons have each been unsigned in the NBA for a year. (next summer)
Mike Richman did a podcast with his Raptors' counterpart from locked on discussing the OG idea. Just an awful listen... they both seem to think Hart + 7 is still not enough to land Anunoby. For fucks sake... I would probably reject 7 alone for OG just based on his worrying injury history, now he wants to throw in Hart as a filler? And given how much Chauncey loved Hart and claimed he wanted a whole team full of guys like him, I don't think we're just gonna readily throw in Hart in any deal. I feel like these guys are so far removed from reality sometimes, and it's hard to believe because they do daily podcasts about the team.
I agree with many of your sentiments on the trade. Yes I'd like to add OG to our roster, but when its the 3rd best forward of a middling playoff team and on a mid sized (not cheap) contract he isn't top5 pick valuable as they are implying. Ray Allen was traded for the 5th pick. The Raptors clearly don't rank him ahead of their other forwards, neither of whom are stars. Richman just seems like such a push over to me, I think he'd agree to whatever a counterpart said. I might flip OG for Hart straight up, as OG fits better positionally on our roster, and he might have a bit more upside. But I'm fine with keeping Hart instead of OG. I'd rank them as very similar level of players. The idea that the difference between them is greater than the worth of the 7th pick is ridiculous.
Richman is trying to create value about OG so fans try to act like we are contenders after trading #7 and Hart for him.
I'm not giving the #7 and Hart for OG. That's too much. OG is a nice player but veryyyy inconsistant. I'd prefer the Blazers try to get Collins and the #16 , and keep Hart. Now we're talking. I like OG, but i don't get all the over value of him as far as compensation goes.
I don’t understand why Toronto wouldn’t want 7 for OG. That is inanely good value for them. I wonder what the chances are of Masai just trying to squeeze out more assets, and if he can’t, he’ll take hart and 7 (which I would hate).
