I really don't understand the Sharpe hype. I tried watching his scouting videos.... he struggled to get an edge to get to the rim against mediocre talent. Personally, I think he's going to be a huge bust.
OG doesn't seem likely to happen, Sharpe seems to have a lot of upside. I would probably take him if he falls. But I am still intrigued by Sochan.
No love for Dyson Daniels? I must say, I'm getting big Ben McLemore vibes from Shaedon Sharpe. That, or Minnesota Wiggins.
Joe, if you're reading this, don't be put off drafting Daniels! Listen to your new draft guru - he knows better.
OG is not going to be better than OG. I think some people must be believing that, or why in the hell would you give up the 7th pick. Sochan has a much, much better chance of being better than OG than OG does.
I have no idea how you can say this with certainty. But even if true, it's going to take a few years before Sochan is even at the level OG is now. We're on a timer here.
I'm not on a timer. And, yes, OG could get better than OG, but it's unlikely to put him in Jimmy Butler territory.
There is no single move we can reasonably make this year that will suddenly put us in contention. I'm happy to wait 2-3 yrs to build to that level. I don't see this kinda pressure that you do if Dame is signed on longterm (pretty confident he'll get that massive extension this summer).
Dame in two years is not going to be as good as Dame today. And yet he'll be making more. You're not guaranteed to be fielding a more competitive team at that point even if Sochan or Sharpe or whoever pans out as a starter level player in two years. Keep in mind Hart is expiring this year, so is Nas. Grant will get paid more, and Ant will as well. Maybe Sharpe/Sochan or whatever is good at that point, but is the team better if Dame is worse and we don't have Hart/Nas whoever we lose because of salary concerns?
Another point to be made, if OG does get better than OG, there's no guarantee it would be next season. It could be 3 seasons from now when he's 27-28.
It's also like, pretty far from a guarantee that anyone we pick will even be starter level, just based on historicals. It's a gamble in more than one way.
??? The point is that OG is already a good starting level player now. He doesn't need to get better for it to make sense now.
