You're probably right but there is no certainty when we haven't seen Dame play healthy in so long, we haven't seen what Dame and Ant can do together since Ant made this huge leap, we haven't seen how Grant plays with a player like Dame especially after having been the number one option and now having that presure taken off of him. A variable on your side is that we do know that when Nurk's touches go down he's disengaged in the past but if he doesn't and accepts his role, he's pretty damn good. We will also have three really good two way bench players. So if a player like OG took his game to the next level or someone we draft is far further along than the evaluation process has shown. We could be a very dangerous team that could contend in an opportunistic scenario. That's a shit ton of caveats that I just threw out there to make it possible that you could be wrong, so again you're probably right but then again.
Is OG not an asset? We’re talking about giving up a top ten pick for him. He’s only 24, and his contract would be easier to match in a hypoethical trade for a superstar than a guy on a rookie scale.
OG is an asset. Anthony Edwards is a superstar that won't get traded because he's a franchise level player. there are different tiers. You know this.
IMO, I would say this team + Grant + pick (Sharpe, etc) + MLE is maybe a 45-48 win team, borderline for playoffs. Adding OG instead of the pick - Hart/Nas is probably a 50-52 win team. Comfortably in the playoffs, competing for homecourt. If we want to hope that we can make a run like GS/PHX just did the past two years and rely on other better teams getting hurt for playoff success, then OG is the guy. If we think we have no shot at realistically matching the Clips/GS/MEM in the west next year, then we should play the long game.
a superstar?? Based on what? Maybe one day, but he’s nowhere near that now. His numbers arent even on McCollum level
dude is 20 yrs old. and put up an efficient 25 ppg in the playoffs as a number one option when his costar shrunk. surely you don't think OG has more trade value than Edwards.
Anthony Edwards has super star potential at the age of 20. He certainly is not there yet. But, his 2nd year in Minnesota was better than CJs last year in Portland (CJ did play a whole lot better for NOP).
Without the timeline, this is not a good answer. If we are talking immediatly, OG >> #7. If we are talking about potential to really contend in a couple of years, you roll the dice on #7.
We aren’t looking for the final piece. We are still trying to build the foundation. Steph/Klay/Draymond/Wiggins Tatum/Brown/Smart/Williams Butler/Bam Giannis/Middleton/Holiday I can go on and on. Is Dame/Ant/Grant in that same tier?
This is a low bar. I think you could put the HCP out on the court and he'd be better than Blevins. They would, in theory, be better on the court.
I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer, I just questioned whether this team really needs another scoring guard. I guess a better question is Daniels or Sharpe. Cuz I’d make my case for Daniels.
