If Dame is good with this pick, and not trading it, then so am I. Dame has a better idea of what his window is, and how good Sharpe is, than any of us.

    This is getting depressing.

Who else are you going to get in the mean time?

All I'm doing is thinking critically. The likelihood of us going out and trading for a star player is almost zero. Our best trade chip is Dame or Simons (when he re-signs.) So who are you going to go out and get in the next two years while we develop Sharpe?

Meanwhile, we will keep developing this kid and MAYBE he will become the star that we need. But I can tell you that Sochan and Daniels aren't going to be stars. They're going to probably be really good starters, best case, or role players at worst, but they're not going to be stars. I just don't see it. Sharpe has the upside where he could be a legitimate superstar if he pops.

We already made a win-now move by getting Grant. Cronin isn't done. Sharpe is a nice long term investment.

It's almost like some of you are just waking up and realizing that this team sucks and doesn't have the pieces to contend. Welcome to the party.

This pick wasn't going to change that, and Cronin basically already said that they explored trading the pick and the offers were not great.

Also, if Sharpe goes out and lights up the summer league, guess how much value that dude will have?

I think that was situational and i agree it's hard to say? Might also be the perfect situation again here.
Batum was Euro and had Championship experience. Was already playing in a pro league. Smashed the Nike Hoop Summit. Was the MVP of the FIBA championships.
I think they expected him to play meaningful minutes. Not sure about starting but he was going to play. Travis Outlaw simply was not going to work with Nate.
Trout just could not hold his own on the defensive end and they had Brandon Roy running the offense with Aldridge.
I just think it was the right situation.

Here's the thing... Travis Outlaw was easily the dumbest player I ever talked to. Super nice guy, but seriously dumb as a box of rocks. He was never going to be special.

A rookie deserves a fair chance to earn minutes.

I'm just curious who was the can't miss prospect that was taken after Sharpe.....

Daniels has serious questions about his shooting. He reminds me of Michael Carter Williams.

Sochan is also 19 years old and other than defense, still has a lot of questions as well.

I really didn't see anyone who was available at 7 that was a better prospect than Sharpe.

This could happen? I also think it's more likely he will stay on the bench until you see the need to "Next Man Up" him.
Right now IMHO Little, Hart and Simons have those minutes sewn up. Maybe there will be more roster changes? Also we all know Little gets injured quite a bit?
A year learning for a kid that didn't actually play college to me isn't a stretch at all.

I like how the refs didn't blow a whistle. Just like, "Dre handled it."

That's really the funniest part. The most obvious foul I have ever seen and there wasn't a single whistle

    Hello,

What else changed last season though? The GM? The coach?
Relying on an old system that has been kicked to the curb to assess how it will go moving forward, isn't critical thinking to me.

That's why we were lucky to get the 7th pick.

I just don't think that's the point: who else are you going to get in the meantime. And no one knows what's available. Maybe there was nothing and this was all Cronin could do. That doesn't mean it doesn't fit the plan.

What your critical thinking is telling you is that we suck and we are fucked unless Sharpe--a kid who didn't look spectacular in high school and didn't play in college--suddenly pops? I mean, the number of variables involved in this are incalculable. There's no critical thought involved here.

If Joe has something great up his sleeve, I'll be the first to laud him. And I don't dislike Sharpe, I just can't help but think everyone in here is delusional about what it means for our team.

In years past I would be worried about Sharpe's development and getting any minutes. But, with Billups now running the team, I am not nearly as worried. I even think Walker will get some consistent minutes by the end of the season.

Funny! I never talked to him but i did get that feeling.
Might be part of the reason Frenchy got his spot.

What is with all the critical thinking talk? Hope is not critical thinking. We just added ANOTHER unknown and unproven variable to an already unsteady ship... Critically thinking, what can happen to unsteady ships?

Yes, and no. Personally, I just want the team to pick a lane. If they are determined to try one more futile effort to contend with this foundation - then go all in and accept the consequences. If they are willing to do a serious retooling (my preference), then no more trading future assets for non-impact vets. Trying to do both at once rarely works.
