Sharpe is in a much better environment than Green.

What is it exactly that we missed out on? Which superstar?

I have already resolved myself to this team not winning anything with Dame. It's basically impossible that they're going to put together a contender around him in the next 2-3 years. So for me, I'd much rather take Sharpe and then when the team realizes that Dame needs to go, we have Ant/Sharpe.

Or.... there's the very small chance that Sharpe blows the fuck up and we have our second star.

You couldn't be more wrong. I'm mad that they didn't fire Soapy 5 years ago and made one stupid decision after another since. So here we are today, with a shitty roster. Glad they aren't doing something stupid for the short term (yeah! we signed Derrick Jones Jr.!!!) and instead are taking the long term approach.

FWIW, the short term band aid I'd have been semi-OK with is drafting Sochan. I think he's got some real upside as a tweener forward with non-scoring skills they could have used, but again glad (not mad) that they went with the longterm BPA in their view.

Are you aware of the major contradiction in your post?
You don't know what was available, you aren't the GM, its not your job to know…. Yet you know this was not the plan????
    My point stands about complaining.
Not true to you maybe. Very true to me and many other problem solver types.
Some just complain, some look to provide answers to the complaints.
I prefer answers over just complaints.
I am going to move on now because this just makes zero sense to me.
I hope things go the way you want and you find some hope for the future of this team.

Ha, funny that you think you are providing a solution by saying they should have gotten a difference-maker by trading #7 when we have all been debating for months who such a player could be....without any success. Seems like it was a good question.

This putting words in my mouth is getting tedious. I don't know. I am not privy to such info. I just know Sharpe is the definition of an unknown in a time when we need something. Hell, he doesn't even play the position we need, unless we are going with playing an undersized SF again. And if he plays, we will not be good. What good team plays a kid without a minute of college game experience and succeeds? I mean, we all know this at heart. We are fucked.

Okay. You're talking my language now.

If this is our path though, we should not have traded for Grant (although that deal was pretty good, in my opinion).

I heard somewhere that ESPN draft "experts" might have had access to prospects before the draft, so there is a good chance that Schmitz had more info about him which made them happy about this pick.

I like Grant and have advocated for him for years. However, reality is what it is for the Blazers and I don't see a path to contending in the short term. While I also thought the deal to acquiring JG was pretty good, getting Duren with the 2025 Bucks pick would have been much better for two years from now when they might be good again.

8-10 in this one. Watching players off ball matters too.

So if we can pull something off...with assets I'm not seeing, I guess...to get us a starting SF, there's always the chance Dame can drag us somewhere good. Sharpe can develop and everything is great, but geez, everything has to break the right way.

    Green was a good cd.
