Highlight films might not mean shit, but those are still some of the best highlights I have ever seen from an HS player.

Young Vince Carter — that’s probably his ceiling

    Similar builds:

    Carter: 6’5.5” w/o shoes — 6’11” wingspan
    Sharpe: 6’4.25” w/o shoes — 6’11.5” wingspan

I agree with the conclusion of the video, his ceiling is probably most limited by how obsessed he is with getting better. Is he going to coast along with his substantial gifts or is he going to grind everyday to improve his weaknesses? I also agreed with his own Bradley Beal comparison of his game. He's a bit bigger/longer then Beal and definitely is a more explosive finisher, but he shares a smoothness in the way he sets up his J. He's going to take some time but he's got so much talent.

JFC, it obviously WAS the plan. It wasn't how YOU envisioned the plan going. We got maybe the best player in the draft and your incessant whining about it is just ridiculous dear god just stop. I've been trying to get caught up in this thread and you and Oldman Grouch are just off the chain, off the CHAIN negative. Just unreal. I can't wait until Sharpe makes you both eat your words. I'm here for it!

That ship sailed when Dumb fuck Olshey passed on PG13 and Jimmy Butler because he wanted to keep MeJ. It's actually far, FAR more likely we win a Chip with Dame on the back end of his prime hitting clutch shots with SImons and Sharpe doing the heavy lifting than Dame and OG day-to-day Anouby or anyone else that was remotely reasonable. If you're upset we didn't get Durant or LeBron on draft night, yeah sure me too, but that wasn't in the realm of possibility. No available guy except perhaps Simmons (and we could still get him) was going to change the trajectory of this franchise. Sharpe has All-NBA+ potential according to many professionals who watched him. Get this out of your system and then enjoy watching him develop into a star. I will good-naturedly bring this meltdown up often over the years. It's not like we passed on Giannis for CJ, THAT was meltdown worthy and I was correct to take Giannis and also wanted Gobert that draft (check BE if you don't believe me) Sharpe is the first guy we've drafted since Dame I'm truly excited about. I was intrigued by Ant, but I'm excited about Sharpe. Relax, take a few breaths and then start to get into the idea this kid might be special. Chauncey, Dame, and many, many Pro-Scouts all think he is maybe THE guy in this draft. You cannot do better than we did potential-wise (possible exception Holmgren if he puts on 80+ lbs).

That's the problem right there. If you mean maybe getting to the 2nd round, sure. If you mean competing for a ring, absolutely not. We are far from competing for a ring and Sharpe, Nas, and Simons realizing their potential with perhaps slight improvement from Hart and Nurkic is by FAR the most likely way of getting there.

Adding OG or another solid, non-elite wing was not going to get it done. I'd much, MUCH rather have Sharpe's potential than OG who is a known quantity and an oft-injured one at that. Sochan does NOT get us to the promised land unless he goes absolutely berserk on offense.

I have far more faith in Sharpe becoming a plus defender than Sochan becoming a dangerous offensive threat and elite lockdown defender. The tools for Sharpe are all there to be ELITE at both ends of the floor with a ceiling that is dizzying according to many, MANY coaches (Cal at Ky e.g.) and pro-Scouts. What about that do you NOT get? He was the #1 Highschool prospect. Like what the hell do you want bro? I think we did by far, by FAR the best potential move by drafting skies the limit talent, over a solid defender in Sochan, or an oft-injured defender in Anouby. Any OG comparable wing doesn't get it done. Short of Simmons (we could STILL get him) or Durant there is no franchise-altering wing out there that is available, what about that do you not understand? Daniels was NOT the pick if Sharpe is on the board. Our draft was spectacular given our two draft picks we got absolute steals. Sure it would have been nice to get Duren, but we couldn't get it done.

Just seriously read some scouting reports from actual scouts and not moronic hot takes on draft sites or the like, but ACTUAL pros, like Calipari who has coached not one, not two, not three, but FOUR Number 1 overall picks and he said no doubt in his mind Sharpe was a number one pick next year. I mean Jesus dude what did you want? A cloned Michael Jordan to appear from a secret cloning vat that Jody Allen had bought from an off-world civilization?!?!!??! We did great, sit down, relax, take a valium and see what happens.

I’ve come around on you. This kinda drunken old man rant is pretty endearing. I feel like you might’ve extrapolated a little too much…

HOWEVER, I have covid and last night and yesterday, and today actually, I was pretty feverish. I have ZERO recollection of any of these posts! Haha! I’m not even kidding. I’m actually excited about Sharpe, and Walker for that matter.

    Hello,
You might want to read through and possibly edit. You were fairly condescending and hitting hard on the “intelligence” of most every poster here. Basically calling most insane. Even directed one at me.
With that said, I hope you are feeling better. Covid sucks.
    Go Blazers!

I know...it's one of those things. Like when people tells you so-and-so is an asshole. Then you meet them and you're like, I'm not seeing it, but everyone can't be wrong. Then you meet them like a dozen times and still think they are okay. That's what the Jody situation is like. Hell, I've fed into it. Without the reports of her not caring, I'd just think what I've now come to think: she loves the Blazers.

Do not be fooled by one draft day video.
She is way over her head. She has zero sports instincts.
I saw the video, she looked like someone trying to blend in.
@AldoTrapani wants to give her kudos for going to the games.
She's not there for the games, she's there for the $1,000 catered meals.

I'm absolutely positive she can have whatever she wants for dinner every night of the year and never ever give a thought to the cost. Totally ridiculous

I've heard the Beal, Booker, and LaVine comps, but does anyone else see Paul George in this kid? Different position, I know, but the attitude/playing style/confidence reminds me of him (and while I don't particularly care for Paul George, I'm sure if he was a Blazer I'd get over that in a millisecond).

Haha. I tried to read them, and while they made me laugh, they also mortified me, so I had to stop. If I offended anyone, sorry (unless I insulted my archenemy @SlyPokerCat. Anything to that guy, I meant.).
