Legalism is a major human failing. We love nothing more than to find or promote laws, secular or religious, that mandate others to behave in accordance with our own preferences and views. Unfortunately, Christians, despite the numerous instructions from Christ not to judge others, are not immune to this failing. In fact, I think the evidence is pretty damning that it’s the biggest failing in many Christian sectors today.
I sadly agree. I say all of this, as someone who grew up in a pretty generic American protestant church. This mentality is a cancer.
As a small anecdotal example: I remember my church passing out flyers when I was a kid. The flyers looked a lot like the disinformation memes we see now on the internet. They stated, in no uncertain terms, that the children's cartoon, Captian Planet, was of the devil and parents should not allow their children to watch, because it promotes worship of nature, and Jesus would be against the environmental liberal ideals. This is but one example. This shit was everywhere back then, and is even more insidious now. The right wing has fully taken over the American Christian institution as a whole, and use it purposefully to promote their own sick, twisted, and unchristian beliefs.
There are Christian bookstores...Christian tv channels...even Christian radio stations....if you need censored content..find your entertainment there otherwise LEAVE MY ART AND LITERATURE ALONE!
Captain Planet was the shit. It's funny...Christians believe God created the Earth, but they don't want to do anything to save it.
Nah..the list had about 100 titles...all challenged and asked to be removed...at one time an elderly woman was checking books out and censoring language in them with a magic marker...she ruined a lot of books before she was discovered and had her card blocked...she was censoring old Louis L'Amour westerns and romance novels..anything with sex, cursing, etc.
Like every politician you have ever gotten behind in full support? If you are batting .000, it might be time to reevaluate yourself.
Heaven is here on earth...if you guys would only stop making it living hell we'd all be in paradise right now. You don't have to die to attain bliss contrary to your beliefs
Still waiting to hear who decides what books to ban. I have read books I like, books I love, books that bored me, books that were silly, books that upset me, and books I thought were flat out wrong in basic premise. But of the thousands of books I have read, not one has harmed me.
What do women do in Valhalla or Islamic heaven? Rape for eternity? I prefer John Lennon, imagine there's no heaven.
