...as the Supreme Court dismantles a century of precedents in a way that might be impossible to repair, and the Democrats just wring their hands saying "if you give us $10 we might be able to do something after the next election - but nothing too radical..."

This has a real post-Reconstruction vibe.

If you’re that distraught than thinking about sports should be your escape.

Somebody needs to alter the "This is fine" dog meme so that instead of drinking coffee, he's watching basketball.

So don't care about basketball then....you said you were done with the team last season but my friend you're still talking about basketball.....plenty of talk about the shitty world political quagmire in OT so I don't see that you have to make a choice...you can talk about both ..choices...do whatever gives you joy. Talking about the weather isn't going to change politics either but it breaks up the monotony

    "Joy". I dimly remember that.

You don't really believe that or you would've become a Warriors fan years ago.

Yeah, real life can make the game seem trivial but that's because it is. I like it as an escape... something to care about in the moment that doesn't have any real life implications. Something that you can feel real emotion about, that when it becomes too much you can just take a step back from and remember it's just a game. I get if it's not that for you and if any time in your life, things are getting you to a point where frivolity seems out of touch.

That being said, I'm really equal about this... keep the political rhetoric in the OT forum. I have plenty of forums for this kind of shit in my life and I come here to get away from that. It's in the fucking rules, so please adhere to the rules.

uh....no I wouldn't have. I actually enjoy the Blazers. You can take a walk and look at the rubbish in the gutter or the flowers on the hill...both are always there..choices...Henry Miller.

Try having the world of sports be how you make a living. Pay your bills, food on the table and clothes on your kids backs.....changes everything.

I think about that sometimes. I do have other outlets which are an escape for me like the arts but it would be hard to have one of my hobbies take on real life weight. A lot of times I think your job sounds so cool and other times I think about what it takes away from you and others with similar jobs... not just this but also the traveling and inconsistency. I do always appreciate you sharing this perspective that I don't have about our team and the game we all love.

What does this have to do with the Blazers or NBA? Please move to the OT section.

Ok... can you get the Blazers to offer me a super-max contract? Whatever they give Lillard is sufficient for me, I'm not greedy. If you do that I'll gladly try your suggestion.

@Rastapopoulos could reword it to be more general. Like, "When the world around you is in the state its in..." or something apolitical that expresses his sintaments because basketball and how it can sometimes be hard to keep interest in the team when things aren't what you hope they would be in other areas of your life is a valid OT conversation to have in the Blazers forum. That being said I already reported it to the mods.

They already have a custodian but the starting wage of 22 bucks and hour is considered a super max

I am on the wrong side of 30, so I would be happy with a vets minimum.

Thanks brother. Not complaining. I've had REAL jobs. It just puts a different twist on things for sure.

Definitely getting harder to concentrate on the fun stuff with all the political bullshit going on.

This country is going a bad way. If it keeps going this direction it leads to only one thing. Civil war. That's a very scary thought.
