Why? The data shows us that is among the least effecient and most expensive ways to prevent violent crime and murder...

You're coming at it from a perspective of "guns are bad" rather than "how do we most effectively and realistically solve this problem"

The data tells us going after guns doesn't work very well.

Hmm... how do we solve the problem of so many people being killed by projectiles passing through their body at high velocity?

And Canada has better access to education, healthcare (including mental health), and a far more generous social safety net.

All leading to a much better score on the gini index than America.

I keep posting the actual data, but people just want to resort to posting MAGA type political memes...

Targeting guns is the least effective, most expensive way to address gun violence in America.

By having a better background check system that actually dives into the environment of which the gun buyer is in. Lifestyle, history. Etc.
Buying a gun should be much harder than it is.
With that said, if the mental illness and community/family culture here doesnt change it wont solve anything.
Instead of bullet projectiles you will have nail bomb projectiles. Etc etc etc.
It is not the guns. Its our family lifestyle and culture.
How many families have family babysit vs dropping kids off at a day care? Children have no ability to connect with family, develop loving and caring relationships for life anymore. Its a no win situation for them. Too many parents use games, internet and tv as babysitters without supervision. This is largely not the family culture of other countries. And the main difference between us and them.
Trying to get rid of guns is simply sweeping the bigger issue under the rug.

Data shows that reducing the number of projectiles doesn't necessarily reduce the number of deaths or harm caused.

The goal should be to save the most lives.

I've shown how to do that the most cost effective and efficient way possible. And we wouldn't have to amend the constitution to do so. I'm not even arguing in opposition to amending the constitution, it's just not going to happen. It would take 38 states to agree, and 30 states have permitless open carry after 7 more approved it just this year.

You're arguing for a solution that has no political will, is the least effective and efficient solution, and would cost more than other available solutions while saving far fewer lives.

Arguing (against the data) to rob people of their rights is an incredibly fascist move, and I believe that costs democrats a lot of support.

The great thing about these services is they cost less per person the larger the pool of general population there are.

That's why larger insurance pools pay lower premiums here in the US and get more benefits.

Horrible. In HS my ex-girlfriend's 11 year old sister hung herself in her bedroom.

    Destroyed that family.

If Hillary Clinton had supported improving access to healthcare, education, and improving the social safety net as her solution to reducing gun violence (it would be overall violence), how many more of the blue collar vote do you think she would have gotten from the union voters in the rust belt who turned their back on the democrats?

If even 10% of the bubble voters in those few gun loving states had voted for her she'd have beaten Trump.

I'm not joking. IMO, Democrats can't afford to maintain this position on gun rights.

Highland Park shooter posted pictures online of his 'teenage sex doll' hanged in closet saying 'Sophie killed herself, I don't understand why' and denied the Holocaust happened in vile racist rants
    • Robert 'Bobby' Crimo, 21, frequently posted on the online forum Documenting Reality, under the moniker 'Awake 47'
    • He would often share photos of himself, along with footage of shootings and other real-life violence
    • Crimo also used the site to document his relationship with a teenage sex doll he named Sophie, posting a photo in July 2020 of the doll hanging from a closet
    • In the days leading up to the shooting, Crimo wrote a number of racist and anti-Semitic posts, questioning the Holocaust and suggesting Asians be gassed
