I never said anything about simple and easy....at all. I do have knowledge of how to get access to people who can advance my career...I've built one from the ground up that was very successful, but you don't need to put any value on that. I'm not selling anything here.
This is the most boomer series of posts I have ever seen. Just pull yourself up by your bootstraps @hoopsjock and @BonesJones
I said when the year he entered the draft he’d be great fit. Watched most of his games as Beaver. Off the charts IQ and athleticism only knock was his outside shot. We are going to love his energy every team needs a guy like him who can being energy and effort to the game.
well got your attention ....I have no issue with Eric or Torey but you can try and make this a group chuckle ..or maybe give them some of your vast expertise at how to give up on their dream gig...choices. We're done ....thought maybe that'd changed over the season but nah.....
They're doing it. They're putting in the work. They're building their reach. They're gathering sources and breaking news. That's how you do it. They have to prove to the Blazers that they're a legit news source and not just fans talking about the team. It's insulting that you think they just need to, you know, try to get credentials. That's not helpful or encouraging. Just tell them you like their show and help expand their reach by telling other people about their show.
Good grief. Dial back the righteous indignation a couple of clicks. I’m only giving you my take on what kinds of things are typically discussed at Blazers player introduction press conferences. I’ve followed the Blazers for fifty years or so and I have never seen the press in Portland dig in on contract and CBA details at this type of event. I get that a lot of us have questions that we’d like to get Cronin to answer, but to use his former boss’s lingo, many of those details are “proprietary” in that they can impact future negotiations and Cronin’s not under any obligation to share that information with the public.
I said they need to go outside the credentials and start by getting interviews...and that Eric's website is as professional and well written as any out there in my view...my point was don't let that stop you from asking for interviews for the website.....I don't think the youtube channel is the venue...it's not presented like the website is at all. I have steered people to the website...I don't enjoy the youtube channel but that's a choice. I give it a try but it's never kept my attention. Getting interviews is how I thought they could end up with credentials but someone mentioned, summer league is the best place to start . Anybody can go to summer league. Now if you have any advice for them as far as gaining access, maybe that would be a good thing to post instead of picking my opinions apart.
Honest question, when have you seen them do it? What other press conferences are there in which these questions would be asked?
I did post it. You're out of your depth. Eric already said that he's trying all the things you're saying. Getting people to come on your show isn't an easy thing either. You don't just hit people up on twitter and get them to come on, especially if they have never heard of you.
I really don't know what good you guys think that would do Q: "was it wise to hard cap the team for a player like Payton?" A: "we value Payton highly and believe he'll be an excellent addition to the team. But to get him we had to exceed the market which was the tax-MLE" ********************************** Q: "will the Blazers try to avoid being a taxpayer this season?" A: "we'll certainly look at that if it's an option that doesn't conflict with our goals. But it's not a high priority at this time" ************************************ does anybody really think that the Q&A would gone any differently than something like that?
I appreciate @riverman's advice! But yeah, he said to try, I said I did, and then he says fine, don't listen to me. I literally have tried multiple times and continue to try multiple ways to get ahold of someone. Every new coach or player that comes aboard, I reach out to. Someone telling me to do these things doesn't help me accomplish what I'm already trying to do.
Neil was actually pretty good at an event I attended. He sat there with McGowan for fans and answered a bunch of questions. It was a season ticket holder event I got to be a part of where they had Q&A's for fans with Neil and McGowan. Hopefully, Joe does the same this year.
There's been multiple posts in this thread giving suggestions on more insightful questions than this, but go on man.
Sure....and some weren't even 'gotcha' questions. I just think it would be next to impossible to get a concise detailed answer about the hard cap or luxury tax. And a presser introducing new players probably isn't the forum for that anyway
thank you....when you told me you tried, you ended that with something about not needing encouragement. Encouragement was meant to show support and that's all. Good luck to you. You're a damned good sports writer in my opinion. In this place a person will get blowback from cheering ..it's a given. Not sure that it hinders anyone in anyway to be encouraged but sure played out that way here.
