This seems like really big news but for the life of me I can't remember anything about this guy. I hope he pulls through. We need more stability in the world, it less. And even an ex prime minister is big news.

The shooter, 40 year old Tetsuya Yamagami is a former member of Japan's Maritime Self Defense Force. His gun was confirmed to be homemade and likely 3D printed.
Investigators believe the shooters motives were not political. Apparently, he plotted and carried out the assassination because he thought Abe was connected to an unnamed organization that he had a grudge against.
