Perkins averaged like 12 and 6 for his career. He was basically a journeyman. But I agree that it’s way too early to say Walker will even have a role in the NBA let alone a 17 year niche.

I’m having flashbacks to how this group reacted to Armon Johnson several years back. When you’re a small market lone team like Portland is we tend to think every decent prospect is the next great hope.

He already has a better career ahead of him than Greg Oden, the dude drafted #1, ahead of Kevin Durant. Let’s not be stupid with hyperbole.

    Or let’s…

It’s arguable that 2003 is the second best draft and Milicic went 2nd!!!

You obviously don't know much about delusional Knicks fans.

It's kind of painful how slowly we start until they put Jabari in. It's also painful how obvious it is that Greg's the problem - he played less than 11 minutes. I love the kid (you have to have guys like him in a locker room - his enthusiasm is just infectious) but he STILL doesn't know how to play basketball.

Yes, but the flaw in your case is that everybody knows that Perkins SHOULDN'T'VE gone that high. He was a huge disappointment until he got to LA and suddenly started shooting threes.

He’s too tall. If he was like 6’3 or 6’4 he’d for sure have a spot.

Seems like a great kid and his game is fun to watch. Hope he continues to develop and maybe grows into a solid role player for many years to come.

Maybe the best thing that could have happened to Walker was Sharp getting injured. Seems the lineups changed a bit and now he is flourishing.
People are watching him more now for sure. This guy might be the steal of the second round taken all the way back with the 57th pick?
That would be like the most Portland thing ever getting a rotational big that late in the draft and missing on the 7th pick.

This was my favorite sequence that showcased his bag. Look where he crashes the boards from, those are just great instincts. Then shows nice recovery and length vs Daniels on the other end.

Do you really think the Blazers missed on the 7th pick ?

i think we should lock walker down with a 3 yr contract and get him for cheap. use part of the MLE.

I'm assuming they have him signed right now on something other than a summer contract...?

if they want that 3rd year, they have enough left after Payton's contract to sign him with the MLE. Or use the BAE

No...When Jay Billis said when he attended UK practices he couldnt keep his eyes off of Shaedon Sharpe.
Calapari seems ti think he would go #1 in 2023, and that he's had 4 #1's.
Dont think he thought about the french kid, being drafted 1.

i want him locked on for cheap for 3 yrs. we have about ~2.1 mil left on that MLE after GP2. A 3 yr deal with 8% raises is about 7 mil. Hella reasonable.

you're gonna hate this comp, but his play in the first two games is reminiscent of the performance in SL by #4 pick from last year. barnes is obviously a better playmaker and is longer, but walker's instincts and motor are identical.

when Portland has done that before they don't pay more than minimum scale for a 2nd round pick...they just add the 3rd year and guarantee it. Wouldn't have to be 7M...probably around 4.3-4.5M

this was minimum scale in 2020-21 so add about 15% to

That comparison is fine with me! we need to get that into the head of the summer league coach so Walker can get the ball more.
