if this exercise is repeated now... i would protect: 1. Dame 2. Simons 3. Nurk 4. Grant 5. Sharpe 6. Hart 7. Nas 8. GP2 Think we'd have consensus on this top 8.
Oh I am SURE I will provide you with many opportunities to correct me as time goes on round here. But its on you to take advantage!
1 Sharpe 2 Dame 3 Simons 4 Hart 5 Grant 6 Nas 7 GP2 8 Nurk I actually like Nurk as a starter, he's just way overpaid at an irrelevant position, with a contract at risk to be a big negative, with little upside. If we weren't bidding against ourselves and he was paid the full MLE (as no team would've offered him more), I'd have him above Grant.
Where would people put Duren/CJ/Nance/Norm/Roco on their list? I think I'd add them like this; 1 Sharpe 2 Dame I Duren 3 Simons II Norm III CJ 4 Hart 5 Grant IV Roco V Nance 6 Nas 7 GP2 8 Nurk Crazy to think how many great guards and mediocre bigs this franchise has had the last two years.
I misssed it...how did Duren become a Blazer? anyway, I'd put both Hart and Grant above CJ and Norm. Nurk too
Yeah, especially since it was a strength down low for about 25 years (1990-2015): Buck, Cliff, BG, Sheed, Trent, JO, Kemp, ZBo, Aldridge).
Duren was traded for what we gave up for Grant. So no the Blazers didn't acquire him but a competent GM could've got him instead of Grant.
I have no problem flipping Sharpe and Dame, yes most Blazer fans would have Dame higher. If we see Dame healthy I'd move him higher, he has more downside risk on the massive contract if he can't get healthy. The rankings are value of the player, guys like Dame Nurk Grant are much lower than they're pure worth on a court because they're on huge contracts. Rookies have potential to be a starter plus let the team add another starter with that salary slot which is a game changing benefit to a franchise with cheap ownership.
ok...I just saw that you had both Duren and Grant on the list and I didn't know how Portland managed that as far as a competent GM preferring Duren to Grant, that's extremely debatable.
