Sorry, I was saying that the way people talk about M&M vs KC.

Mike and Mike were good, if you wanted to settle for Pat Lafferty.

Looks like Barrett has put on 10lbs of muscle and is going to surprise a lot of people with his broadcasting game.

I liked M & M. They were fun. But i have grown to love KC, and i think Lamar Hurd is becoming the best color commentator in the league. He's that good. Watched League Pass for over a decade in Denver. You only got to see the home broadcasting crew , up until they let you subscribe to just your favorites games. Hurd is special.

Old security blankets are hard to get rid of. By not moving forward, they're heading down the path to Ulcer Gulch. Good ol' Pat. He was actually pretty good with Steve Jones.

I like Travis Demers on the play by play for the radio broadcast....I loved Wheels on the radio ...I think Demers could step in whenever Calabro retires and work well with Lamar Hurd.

Agree. I love Travis. Blazers have nice young talent on both sides of the business.

Mike and Mike were very amateur and homers, but that's why I liked them. I'd rather watch local broadcasts with fellow fans that I know are genuinely rooting along with me than really smart professionals that don't feel the same.

M&M were fun. Calabro is boring. He is indistinguishable from all the other broadcasters to me. If you say that he is a national level talent, so be it, he sounds just like any other national PbP announcer - he does not provide anything I can't get anywhere else. M&M, they made a lot of the broadcast.

Calabro would bolt in a second if he was offered a job with a new Seattle team.

Maybe, but he's still fantastic behind the mike, and if you listen, you can tell he's become a fan of these Blazers players.

I was thinking about the part where they implied KC and San Diego were "that close" to happening.

So where exactly were they going to play in San Diego? They didn't have an NBA quality arena, and not exactly a rabid NBA fan base there....

Exactly! Maybe they'd erect one of those Bleacher stadiums you see on the deck of a Carrier.

I'm betting what happened was, Paul/Vulcan was trying to use SD and KC as leverage to strong arm the city into ponying up more $$ or something. And the exec that "told MB" was spinning it.

Also, I hate how they act like it was Portlands fault that the team was threatening to move. Brandon Roy didn't "save" the team, having decent talent saved the team. They had just come off of years of having bums on the team (*on purpose*) and pissing off the fan base. We were ready to cheer for anything that wasn't crap. When 3 of your 4 best players are Zach, Darius and Ruben, you got problems.

If you listen to the Wheels interview with the Mike's it's apparent Barrett has a serious grudge against the franchise for firing him. Point in fact he's stopped being a fan or supporting the team...I don't believe the team was moving given that Paul had invested in the stadium here already and Portland was much closer to his home. I remember also when Barrett teared up and got angry when Nate McMillan was fired....he also in the interview sort of hinted that Rice was a problem for him at times with refs and the broadcast. Given everything...I think it was time for new blood in the broadcast booth...I wish Rice would've stuck to doing the color commentary on the radio...that's his real talent. Wheels and Rice would've been a great team....Antonio Harvey sucked...I was glad they fired him...Micheal Holton isn't great but he's not loud about it.

Good grief he needs to get over himself. He was just a TV guy that they snagged from the Portland Fire or whatever womens team was called. The Blazers didn’t owe him a lifetime contract.

I don't blame MB for having a grudge against the franchise for firing him, I can sympathize with him, BUT all it means is that I don't take a lot of what he says at face value. Truth be told, he (MB) got too attached to the coaching staff (maybe has something to do with how his dad was a coach). Not saying they're not allowed to make friendships with the people they work with(around), but it totally clouds his view.

I had worked with someone I consider a really good friend. He lost his job about a decade ago, and I was pissed that they let him go, almost to the point where I considered quitting my job. But I realized that my friendship with him didn't mean he was good at his job, nor that his employment meant that we wouldn't be able to remain friends.

I 100% agree about Rice, he should have stayed on the radio. He was much better at that than the TV side, and significantly better than Antonio ever was.

I agree. I just thought it was interesting because I had never heard that before from anyone, let alone someone close to the team.
