Overseas I'd guess unless he can try through the G league...Alan Crabbe was in the G league last season..it's going to be a popular destination...I could see him running Dame's basketball camp doing some Blazer associated job. What the league needs more of are good refs...that's what some end of the bench guys should consider getting into.
Blevins is like a really good rec league player. I dont think he'd be able to hang in Europe or the g league either. I'm sure Dame can find him something else to do though.
lol dont disrespect Errick like that. Probably too late now, but im surprised he never got a shot in the NBA. Actually wild to think Blevins did when a guy with an actual skillset like McCollum didn't.
Sam Perkins? That would be a high but not crazy ceiling … and saying that seems completely insane IMHO. Better than Samaki Walker? Yes, that is doable … even as pick 57! A 10-year, journeyman, role player in the NBA … a nice career. And Samaki’s son may make good money doing that … maybe MLE … BUT if Jabari works … reaching the level of Sam Perkins? Jabari looks good so far. It’s Summer League. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/perkisa01.html
Watford as a back-up PF/C looks like what he’ll do. I haven’t seen him as a back-up center on a regular basis; however, that’s part of the chatter on getting minutes and not having great options behind Nurkic. Eubanks in an emergency last year played the position. A 3rd string Big? Yes. He can do that. Giving too many compliments to Walker as a back-up PF/SF is getting out over my skis during SL, but he looks like he belongs. An actual back-up big who is mobile and rugged enough — Daniel Theis level — is what I’d like to see. Alexander is a project who fits a two-way really well.
Such a weird comparison. Sam Perkins was incredibly different. Also was much much higher rated coming out of college.
Not a big fan of Winslow btw. He giv3s me flashbavks to the Aminu days where we always had this extrmely one dimensional players around Dame.
Except he can handle the ball and pass better than Aminu. I feel comfortable having Winslow with the ball in his hands, while being guarded by a PF, and attacking the basket and feeding Nurk. Sure last year was a small sample size but he made plays. Plus we are talking bout a backup forward. Amino started and IMO should have come off the bench as well.
For my part, I agree. Perkins came in highly rated and was a great contributor at PF for years. Much was expected and he delivered for his teams. A strong career. Late in his career, he took and hit 3’s at volume, and he was always a strong rebounder and a good defender. But when I look at what Perk did and his body type and impact just being on the floor and not needing plays run for him … I don’t hate that comparison if I squint my eyes hard enough. Perk was definitely long. Walker? It’s really early. Too early to get hopeful about a late, late 2nd rounder — the very essence of being a fan when training camp hasn’t even started.
I am embellishing here a little, but other than the obvious stars in every draft, it almost seems like the only difference between 1st round and 2nd round picks is their perceived ceiling. There are always examples of players in college who have a better year than an 18-year freshman. But it is irrelevant because the draft is all about projecting who will be good for the next decade. Nonetheless, I don't really put too much stock in where a player was drafted when there are only 2 rounds. There is not much difference between them all...after the first 10 or so players.
Aminu’s lack of bball IQ was crazy. How many times would he put his head down and do a one on 4 fast break only to look like should belong on a bloopers video. He never learned from that. He was an okay defender though. I preferred Harkless to Aminu because at least Mo played within himself
Why not compare Jabari Walker to Keegan Murray? They seem similar to me. One obvious difference is that Keegan is two years older and I'm guessing that Walker is a bit further along than Murray was as a freshman in college, which equates to Walker's upcoming rookie season age-wise.
