What if there was a strong incentive for the teams, such as what has already been suggested in here. Extra ping pong balls, a bye week for round 1, etc. Shorten the season by 10 games, add in the tourney with a good incentive, and it will freshen things up IMO.
I also want to get rid of the six foul rule. Make it 10 for disqualification just like the summer league. Fans pay to see the stars and it also allows the referees to call fouls on players that would foul out with six, instead of swallowing their whistles and penalizing the other team. anyway the point is there are a lot of other changes that could benefit the game more than a mid season tournament.
I like it if it benefits the smaller market teams because I’m sick of seeing the larger market teams winning almost everything. The NBA needs something new. I’m not opposed to change if it’s for the good.
It's all about tourney basketball. NBA is a marketing machine looking for ways to promote mostly the viability of a league thats as a percentage is mediocre at best.
What if it gave you a lotto boost whether you were a lotto team or not? Something like an extra 10% chance to move into the top 4 for a lotto team and a 10% chance to move into the top 4 for a playoff team.
Nah. It's like adding a free throw contest before a game to see who would get a lead going into overtime: contrived and attenuated relative to why I watch the NBA (and stuff for entertainment generally).
How about having star players Play all the games they are able to when they are healthy? I thought they were gonna do something about that. Some people travel very far to see games that are played in Portland. A while back I met some people who had traveled from Vancouver BC to watch LeBron James play with the Heat. Of course he didn't play. seems that Adam Silver is just interested in making more money rather than making the product better.
Make the all star weekend more incentivized. Bring back stars to the slam dunk, actual effort in the game itself. They don't need another gimic. Just get back to what worked in the 80’s & 90’s.
The ASG didn't change... it was the players. It's the players who stopped caring and really don't give a shit.
I wanna see the details surrounding it before passing judgment. Is there any reason for teams to care? Or is it just randomid season games.
Guarantee a spot in the playoffs for the team who wins. Hell.... guarantee a spot in the conference finals. Make the other teams play to secure the second spot.
