When you look at all the various ethnic groups within our country, most have their cultural religions, of all kinds. And because we are a country that allows immigration freely ( a good thing) they want to bring their religion with them and many come here for that very reason. African Americans Indigenous Hispanic Asians Euro's Islanders The key is a seperation from religion and government. Also, within each group as with any group there are extreme fanatics that become problems and try pushing their values and ways. Not just one religion but all. Now even political groups are getting as bad as religious extremist. Sure tribalism.
I think you would enjoy the interview in this article. https://www.americanprogress.org/article/christians-have-a-role-to-play-in-defending-u-s-democracy/ In case you’re interested, the passage from Matthew referenced in the article reads: 34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:34-40
Actually we don't know what you mean. I don't draw any important distinction between Christians and Mormons. The differences in beliefs are negligible and have small affect on how they interact with the outside populace.
That Matthew quote ... second part he condemns those who did not for the least of these. When I was at Cal, @e_blazer, there was a campus Christian group who quoted only the first line, depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, to protest the gay student union. It was not until years later I learned what the passage said, and that it has nothing to do with anyone being gay. Now, back to originalism. The Ninth Amendment says that just because a right is not specifically enumerated in the Constitution doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The founders knew they couldn't think of everything, but just because they didn't think of it in late 18th century wasn't the end.
It's the exact same religion as Christianity except Jesus did one extra thing in a different place. Whooopeee
Mormons actually get really annoyed at the multiple wives line. That's such a small radical group that actually does that.
I wasn't sure if this is best placed here or in one of the politics threads, because apparently the abortion issue (or it's origins at least) has nothing to do with abortion, it's about political control. Why is America so divided on abortion? Because a key conservative player planned it that way
I know. That's why I throw it out there. The Morman women in my area are all incredibly attractive too. Almost as attractive as my wife...
https://www.newsweek.com/marjorie-taylor-greene-christian-nationalism-reverend-chuck-currie-1728815 I just came across this article about an Oregon pastor. This is what I have been asking for from the good Christians. We need more people to take a stand.
I have Mormon neighbors and they are awesome neighbors. They do have a free labor crew anytime they want it...when they build something about a dozen young guys in white shirts with elder tags show up and do it. They just retired and just got home from a two year missionary trip to Serbia and Croatia...I'm glad they're home because the couple who took care of their house while they were gone were really the opposite...anti social and a little uptight.
Because so many black babies are killed right? First of all that's a correlation for which there are many confounding factors. Secondly, i said abortion itself is child abuse.
