Supporting politicians and laws which do that means you are doing it. You willingly give them power to control others with your public support and your vote.
This also supports the belief that the politician is using religion to control people. IMO, the best thing for a person in this situation who doesn't want their religion to be associated would be to very publicly denounce these things as not supported by your religion and make a concise argument as to why.
