Trump called out for outrage from his fans when his place was raided by the feds and all across the nation just a few people who lived near him in Florida came out to hold up Trump signs...no more than a couple dozen who got bored and went home soon.....holding Trump accountable is not going to cause civil war.....NOT holding him accountable could cause civil war....Trump has lost ground and is walking around naked bragging about his clothes these days. The midterm GOP whores are going to try and make the dems look bad over this but honestly people are fucking sick of Donald Trump and his dozen liars who hang onto the guy. My worthless two cents..........prosecuting Trump on a felony will tear this country even further apart, so that won't fly, regardless of how much irrefutable evidence might be found. I honestly think the plan with the raid is to find that bullet proof misdemeanor that will bar Trump from running for office ever again. Mission accomplished. I think that will be the best we can hope for. His base will still come unglued, but establishment Republicans will say all the "supportive" remarks (while being secretly pleased as hell) and then move on to a more palatable (for establishment Republicans) candidate. Guys like McConnell know that if the Republicans take control of congress this fall, the crazies are going to be coming for those establishment Republicans like McConnell. It's a terribly fucked world when we have to rely on a clown like McConnell to be a bulwark......
The Feds took 12 more boxes out of Mar a Lago and made them padlock two other rooms that held material. No security measures were in place to safeguard all the material he shipped from DC at all...not even a locked door.
A pat on the back and warning isn't going to stop this from happening again.....there were no Proud Boys or Oath keepers riots when they searched his place....I think that Trump has weaponized the fear of his mob coming back but at this point...that mob doesn't want to go to jail for him or lose their day jobs...I disagree that something small will accomplish the protection of democracy...I think an example must be swift, merciless and final about this guy so the next one doesn't go anywhere near his playbook. This is about defending the truth...the lies can't go unpunished...my 2 cents. From the 74 million who voted for him about a dozen scattered protestors showed up after the raid and left early. I can hear a guy with his MAGA gear having his wife say....no fucking way I'm raising these kids alone..you follow that guy and you sleep in the car .
It was Trump who made mishandling documents a felony. As for barring him from holding office, I heard people say that might not stand up in court. Because the Constitution is very specific on qualifications. He could fight a ban and white supremacist court back him.
I agree with your sentiments 100%. I'm just trying to stay realistic. And I think a misdemeanor in this particular situation is the best we're going to be able to expect. There is too much in play/at stake to go full tilt felony no matter how much I may wish otherwise......
It’s all so unbelievably predictable. Trump and cronies plant seeds - talking points like “raid”, “planting evidence” and “abuse of power” etc, instantly 40,000,000 Americans (and Russians) start regurgitating the same words. It becomes something that half the country ends up questioning and having doubts about. We will have these talking points now for YEARS. Never going away. Now if they pull a dead body out of his safe with video of Donald himself to admitting to 45 rapes it will be fake, planted evidence. There is no way to win this.
Oh, it's already been won. He lost before when he was in power - even if 90% of the people that he won before continue to support him, it means that 10% stopped after the fiasco, Jan 6 investigation and abortions setback - and he will lose by a bigger margin. Getting him to pay for his crimes is just a deterrent for future assholes

I think if making an obvious criminal pay for his crimes is going to tear this country apart we should let it happen. If we've fallen that far then we need a re-set anyway.
