I think it just reflects the short attention span of most Americans?

I read a very comprehensive analysis that shows they are (by weight) shooting per day as much artillery shells as Soviet Union in WWII. If they continued at the same rate and could not ramp up production, they would run out in about 11 months.

Well there are some other issues going on that also take up Americans attention. It’s not every day the FBI raids an ex presidents house, etc. Also, like many have been asking since the start, what else can the US do? They’ve sent a gazillion dollars and military aid, sanctioned the fuck out of Russia. Everyone says they can’t go in or it’s nuclear. I think Americans care (except Magats who are pro Putin) but when there is no solution we move on to other things

I don't think Russia has the military they'd like everyone to believe.

I was watching sports. But again that has nothing do with the war. Its still going on and very much in the news. Anyone who actually cares is still paying attention and not giving weak support like American sports franchises.

La liga still has a Ukraine flag in their tv presentations

Day 179. The last week has seen only minimal changes in territorial control along the front line. More explosions in Sevastopol: Russians claim it was Air Defence. Russian forces claim soldiers have been poisoned in an act of Ukraine’s “chemical terrorism.” Ukrainian hackers hack Crimean TV. Grain deal’s first 20 days: 27 ships leave and 18 ships enter Ukrainian ports. The “weekend” for Ukrainian personnel was extended at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power (ZNPP). Nord Stream 1 pipeline to shut for three days in latest fuel blow to Europe. The West considers applying NATO’s Article 5 in response to a possible accident at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power
(I'm not sure if it is accurate to say "The West considers applying NATO’s Article 5 in response to a possible accident at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power". I have only seen it suggested by one British MP and one USA congressperson.)

Day 180. In Moscow, a car bomb kills political ideologist Daria Dugina, a daughter of "Putin's brain" Alexander Dugin. Russia continues to focus its efforts on establishing full control over the territories of the Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts, maintaining the captured areas of Kherson and parts of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv oblasts. Russian offensive operations in eastern Ukraine have likely exhausted the limited momentum. Ukrainian military intelligence reports that Russia and Belarus have reached an “urgent” agreement for Belarus to repair damaged Russian aviation equipment for re-use in Ukraine. Russian forces attempted several unsuccessful ground assaults southwest and southeast of Izium. Russian forces conducted several assaults on the Kherson-Mykolaiv frontline and made partial advances east of Mykolaiv City. Russian occupation authorities intensified filtration measures and abductions in occupied territories ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day on August 24.

Day 181. Ukrainian intelligence issues a warning regarding Independence Day. The US believes Russia plans strikes on Ukraine’s infrastructure. Explosions heard in Sevastopol and Kherson. Russia builds a substantial floating bridge over the Dnipro river in Kherson Oblast. Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces of Ukraine announces losses: Almost 9,000 Ukrainian soldiers. Ukraine asks the UN and Red Cross to document the show “trial” in Mariupol. There will be no talks with Russia if it holds show trials, Zelensky says. German Ministry of Defence rejects vows to send Ukraine more weapons. Russia accuses Ukraine of killing the nationalist’s daughter Daria Dugina. MFA Estonia decries the FSB version of Dugina’s murder as “provocation.

Difficult just to watch; can you imagine how it was for the mother and father? But as one woman from Ukraine has said: "Don't you dare look away!"
