And face five years in prison. They are also prohibited from prescribing birth control or emergency contraceptives and from distributing condoms. In fact, they were advised not to discuss reproductive health care at all. Because if a state outlaws abortion they have to make damn sure there are lots of unwanted pregnancies.
A 14 year old Arizona girl suffers from severe rheumatoid arthritis. She has been in and out of hospital her entire life. She was prescribed methotrexate to control symptoms. She can no longer access her medication. Methotrexate is used to end ectopic pregnancy. Arizona has banned all abortion, no exceptions, so drug is no longer available. She is not pregnant. The drug is used worldwide for severe arthritis. But she is an actually born child. Who cares if she suffers?
