Eventually, many of their jobs will be obsolete with automation, and they are uneducated and poor. So basically we'll end up having an uneducated, poor and unemployed underclass of workers. What could go wrong?
Talking about other countries. They seem to survive. I mean hell, I sometimes get workers at Home Depot to lift heavy shit. Its useful, and I can pay them shit to do stuff I don't really want to do like lifting heavy boxes, etc. But if immigrants weren't around, its not like toilets are going to not get cleaned or lawns won't get mowed.
Lots of other countries do the same, the workers just come from different places. Setting up the EU just opened the boarders for poor eastern Europeans to move about freely for labor jobs. It's harder for US citizens to get work visas in other countries because we make it so restrictive for them, but plenty of other countries play much nicer together on work and student visas.
2nd generation immigrants are the most productive people in society, and 3rd generation are the same as the rest of the population. And we need the labor from the first generation. Immigrants also commit less crime than natural born Americans. There is no down side.
Every asian country has Filipino, Maylasian, Indonesian and Africans doing menial labor and agricultural work or construction or senior care...etc....I see them everywhere I've traveled...Europe has tons of people from Northern Africa working in all the countries and refugees ferom Syra, etc......you're throwin shit at the wall bro.....this is not exclusive to America...difference is we don't pass out work permits and enforce the legal immigration of workers at the border.....you're not doing the work these folks do and we don't need them in high tech...we need them in restaurants, dairies and farms, etc......chasing them out of the country under Trump fucked up the economy like it or not....we need work visa programs that discourage illegal immigration...pretty simple....also these folks join the military which few native born young people seem to want to do these days as well...there's work here that nobody wants to do but immigrants will do.....simple solution
Legal immigration is great. Illegal immigration, especially in Europe from North Africa leads to a lot of crime.
These North Africans are an absolute detriment. Sure, some of them are in factories sewing gucci loafers, but they are all over Europe as scammers, thieves and rapists. The ones from Asia have a process to go to the country they end up in.
Two immigrants. One from the India Institute of Technology with a PhD in computer science that comes to the US through the proper legal channels. Versus someone from El Salvador that can pick apples and swam over a river to get here. Which is going to lead to a better overall net gain for society?
I wonder if the $18 million in state money DeSantis spent flying immigrants and empty planes around the country could come in handy now?
I wonder how DeSantis is going to handle all the "voter fraud" in November? There are going to be hundreds of thousands of people who will no longer be living at the address they gave when they registered to vote. I'm pretty sure that is a felony now in Florida.
I have a friend who manages a large crew of migrant farm workers in Washington state. He has trouble finding enough workers to work the crops. Americans do not want to do the work.
Migrant workers are great. They are here temporarily, earn more and then send money back home, then go back when the job is done. only here to work, but not live.
I agree except we do need them in high tech. It's known as the brain drain as we drain other countries for their intellectual talent.
I agree they are the worse when you are there. Gypsy's, Syrians and general Muslims have their issues also. Europe does have their immigration issues but from what I see a lot of it is self inflicted. They allow them in often as refugees, give tons of assistance, but kind of outcast them to slums. Then you start having problems with a disenfranchised second generation that breeds crime and terrorists. Europes location is so much closer to major population migration areas and risks being overrun in some respect. Seems like a cautionary tale for us.
Head hunters for executives have that covered....I have a friend who places people in those jobs all over the world...that's a different market from the immigrants at the border...those folks get a work permit and incentives to move here with perks....that will never change. The medical field is a prime example of green card professionals. No different from the world of sports...talent will get the job it wants.
