http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/13536564.htmRicky may be tradedBY JASON COLEjcole@MiamiHerald.comCoach Nick Saban said the team will examine possibly trading running back Ricky Williams if another team expresses interest. But Saban said that scenario applies with any player, although keeping Williams and rookie running back Ronnie Brown could be problematic over the long haul.''The door is ajar for everyone [to be traded],'' Saban said. ``The tough thing to manage sometimes -- when you have them at the same position, is it realistic to think that that can happen over a long time period? If the opportunity presents itself relative to any player on our team helping our team get better, we would have to entertain [a trade]. It is a business decision. It is not a personal thing.''The great debate about Williams is how much is he worth in trade. During the final two weeks of the season, Williams had 54 carries for 270 yards, numbers reminiscent of when he led the NFL in rushing in 2002. He also is under contract for the minimum salary through the 2007 season.Mitigating his values is that Williams will remain one violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy from at least a one-year suspension. He also carries the stigma of having quit in 2004, a week before the beginning of training camp. All of that led Williams to half-jokingly ask reporters after the game Sunday in New England whether they thought he'd return next season.
They should, he looks better than he did when he first got back, surely nothing like he was when he retired, but still he looks like he is IMPROVING.Therefor, they could get something good by trading him, and there is no reason to have him AND Ronnie.
I agree that theres no need to keep both of them, and that Ricky would be the one to go, but then you have to expect the Phins to spend a second or third round pick on a backup RB.
Yeah but the pick they will need to spend on a backup RB is worth it when Ricky has good trade value and they could get someone from a position they need the most.

Even right now, he could probably be had for a 3rd round pick. And It might just be worth it just to get rid of him.
I hope they keep him. I just like Ricky Williams in a Dolphins jersey. So next year, if Ronnie Brown struggles, you still got Ricky that can still play good. I think if they keep them both, they can win their division. I think Sabin should let both share carries.

Miami has no chance of getting a 2nd round pick for Ricky. Travis Henry was as good or better than Ricky is now last season and the Bills got a 3rd rounder for him. If someone gave the 'Phins a 3rd round pick for Ricky, they should jump right on it.

Guaranteed.I agree that Ricky's value is about that of Travis Henry's in a 3rd round pick though. But thats not because of a lack of talent, but their off the field troubles.

But they were both in the final year of their contracts so they were shopped around. And no one did take the offer. Don't know what teams exactly, but both RBs were a lot of money, had only 1 year left, andthere were some decent RBs in the draft, so I see why they didn't take the offer.
