Not sure why you pitch to that kind of hitter in that situation? I think you load the bases and go for the out?
    Go get the next one.

Perfect set up for them. I know I would have walked the bases loaded. I do understand that puts two runners in scoring position though? Tough call.

Bregman isn't a much better match up and now the winning run is on base. You have to pitch to Alvarez, you just don't send THAT guy to pitch to Alvarez. Hell with the day off tomorrow and Castillo ready for game two, I would have just run Munoz back out there for a 2nd inning. Today's game, getting to Verlander, leading the whole way, you HAD to win this one. Even if it means no Munoz for game two, there's another day off between 2 and 3 ... he would have had three full days off. Told a coworker when Vasquez picked up a meaningless hit in the 8th that it was anything but as it meant the top of the order was guaranteed to get up and any time you're close to the heart of their order, than bad things can happen.

Fucking hate all the bandwagon Astro fans down here and specifically didn't want to play them for this exact reason! Still think finishing with 3rd WC was the way to go, much better match up. If Houston wins this series (and let's be honest, there is no reason to think these M's will exercise the Astro demons) than I might have to do the unthinkable and root on the Yankees.

    It's unforgivable....

And what's worse is we don't play until Thursday. I dunno if I can stomach that game. This one made me so mad. Just dumb fucking decisions. Having Pena 0-2 there too just hurts. We went from the most exhilarating comeback to the most heartbreaking loss in 72 hours.

I don’t even follow baseball and I know this is the right answer. Walk him and give your outfielders a chance to make a play.

Better to take your chances with runners than giving up a walk off homer.

If you want to win a series against a team with more talent you can blow a game like that. In the fashion they did. After jumping that early on Verlander

Yes Alvarez is a stud and their best player but it's not like there is some slap hitter coming up next. It's Bregman and you have to remember, Houston as a SHORT porch in left field with the Crawford boxes and AB is a righty. I'm fine pitching to Alvarez, just not that pitcher.

You pitch to the outside. Make him reach and open up the zone. I agree RR was a very bad call. He threw him a big chunk of meat middle of the zone. My thinking is you stay with Sewald and walk Alvarez. Then go for it that way. Just a tough call though. I can understand the thinking.

Yeah, I meant Thursday not tomorrow. At least we have Castillo then Kirby at home. If we win those two we would still have a chance. Then game 4 would be at home with Gilbert again? Idk man, but my suggestion is Robbie Fucking Ray is benched for the rest of the playoffs. He should have to return his Cy Young award for that horrible meatball yesterday.

Just because our team wasn't in the playoffs doesn't mean we didn't watch it in previous years. You've been pretty condescending in this thread, but I guess that's the luxury a fan of a world champ gets.

hahaha ... not trying to be condescending but there is something about the team in play being one you root on that makes baseball so much more intense (plus the fact I can't stand the Astros). To me there is a MASSIVE difference in being a casual baseball fan watching the playoffs and having your team in the mix and living/dying with every pitch, especially in a close game. As for the TV start times, just find it funny that every team who gets the early games, their fans bitch and moan, it's part of the game! Trust me I heard it a lot from both Seattle and Houston fans (along with a couple Braves fans I know).

I get what you're trying to say and you're right. More is on the line. A complaint is one thing, bitching and moaning is just hyperbole. I wish I didn't have to work when my team played Houston, which honestly should probably have a better game time than they got. They might have a legitimate gripe. It's whatever though, like you said, it's part of the game.

Maybe you weren't trying to be condescending and I just took it that way. I might still just be pissed about the game haha
