The Jets cap number is way overblown, because we will save almost 14 million in cap room from cutting Law, another like 8 from cutting Fabini and Kendall, and save another 10 or so when Pennington and Curtis Martin restrutcture their deals.

Well, these numbers are what they are, and they are as of January 2006. Obviously they can't take into consideration of roster releases, bonuses given or not, and contract restructering.

The Raiders will find a way to get under the cap. They always do.

Not really...I dont need to hope. Our GM has already said that a good portion of the Jets "salary cap" is due to unreached incentives and thats going to come right off of our cap. Then you cut the dead weight in Law(More Pass Interferences then Interceptions), Fabini, Kendall, ect. and we will be well under the salary cap. You just signed Law. If they cut him now, the whole amount of his contract hits the salary cap all at once. The Vikings are considering something similar with Smoot, but the cap hit for cutting him would take a nice chunk out of that $24m we have.I don't know what Law's contract looks like, but cutting him probably won't help much.

I believe Ty Law knew when he signed this deal that he would only be on the team for one season. Cutting Ty Law would save us at least 10 million in cap room easily.
