Unless enough vote for Johnson. Then Johnson becomes Governor. And it's quite possible that those who vote for Johnson are doing so to make a statement, and don't care of Drazen wins. People are going to vote how they want. It's your responsibility as a party and candidate to maintain your own base. When the Dem platform turns off enough voters that anti science conservatives can win as Governor of Oregon it might be time for Dems to reconsider their platform and what changes have been made to drive so many voters away...
If we are playing that way, if enough people write in 'barfo', I'll be governor! It could happen! Dreams can come true, it can happen to you... In reality, it's Drazen or Kotek. Johnson isn't going to win barring two huge October surprises (Drazen is caught in bed with a dead girl, Kotek with a dead boy). If they don't care who wins, then sure. Surely there are indeed some people who vote and yet don't care about the results. And, if Kotek somehow wins it, will that say to you that the Dems didn't need to reconsider their platform, and they had the right strategy all along? barfo
They don't care between Drazen and Kotek. Neither speaks to them, and they are vehemently opposed to some policies of both. Therefore, they see making a statement with their vote is the best use of their vote. Democrats win the Governor's race in a walk in Oregon. Have for half a century. The closer that margin gets the more Democrats should consider it.
Looks like about 20%. And now that he has given Johnson a solid platform with name recognition, Phil is going to flood Drazen with cash. They are just giving people who didn't really want to support the Dem agenda another option. You can try to make them feel guilty, but it won't matter. Dems have pushed them too far.
I don't want to vote Dem, things are bad here. But after the past 6 years, Republicans lost the right to get a vote. Period. So Kotek it is.
Nah. It's much less than that, I'll bet. Surely *some* people who currently say they'll vote for Johnson do have a preference between Drazen or Kotek. Yep. Have to admit that he played that as well as he could have (assuming that he fervently desires to be a scumbag, that is). We'll see. And yes, I will try to make them feel guilty. They deserve to feel guilty, if they help elect Drazen. barfo
https://www.politico.com/news/2022/10/13/biden-campaigning-for-oregon-democrats-00061589 Oregon is suddenly in jeopardy, and Joe Biden wants to help The president is hitting the trail in a traditionally Democratic state that is threatening to slip away. Joe Biden’s appearance this week on the campaign trail in Oregon says as much about Democrats’ struggles in the reliable blue state as it does about his own careful approach to the midterms. Biden advisers and close political allies are worried about a confluence of factors that threaten to flip the open contest for governor in the state. A third-party challenger is pulling more support from Democrats than the GOP; four contested congressional races, including one over the border in Washington state, have resulted in a barrage of Republican TV ad attacks; and the uneven economic recovery and spiraling quality of life concerns around homelessness and crime are weighing on voters. “It’s just a tough year for us,” a Biden ally conceded. That’s compelled Biden to do something rare for him so far this cycle: headline a grassroots volunteer event with Democrats. The president’s midterm travel schedule so far this year has been sparse, consisting largely of raising cash for Democrats and setting up big-picture themes for the party, while mostly campaigning closer to home. He has, however, stood beside candidates at official events touting policy and appeared with a number of gubernatorial candidates since the summer, including Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, Pennsylvania state Attorney General Josh Shapiro and Maryland’s Wes Moore, who could be the state’s first — and nation’s only — Black governor next year. Now, hoping to avoid a devastating loss in a Democratic enclave, and with polls showing a dead heat for the governorship, the White House approached former Oregon state House Speaker Tina Kotek to arrange the presidential visit in support of her campaign. “Suddenly, everyone figured out we have a real governor’s race out here,” said Jake Weigler, an Oregon Democratic strategist not involved in the contest. “People are waking up and thinking that losing could actually happen.”.........................
Somehow I doubt Biden is what the people who are considering voting for Johnson or Drazen are hoping to see. But let's see how it goes...
I will believe when I see it. I remember the same things were being said about Knute Buehler and Chris Dudley
Biden is here next to my apartments. It's all blocked off. We went to see him drive by on the sidewalk and didn't realize he was coming here. He's at the union next door. Got the secret service on the roof. We didn't know until we got close and 6 flashlights lit up. We backed up quickly.
